CNN reported Wednesday on a senior administration official admitting that the White House intentionally misled reporters ahead of President Donald Trumps congressional address in order to get generate positive press coverage as part of a misdirection play.
Multiple reports Tuesday indicated that Trump would embrace a more moderate tone on immigration and would announce that he was willing to negotiate granting millions of illegal immigrants legal status. Most of those reports, cited to a senior administration official, came immediately after anchors lunched with Trump. Some of those outlets then just attributed the claim to the president himself.
But when it was time for Trump to actually give the speech, he said nothing of the sort. CNNs Sara Murray complained the next day about the bait and switch that the president pulled when it came to immigration yesterday. He had this meeting with the anchors, he talked about a path to legal status.
Basically they fed [them] things that they thought these anchors would like, that they thought would give them positive press coverage for the next few hours. A senior administration official admitted that it was a misdirection play, she reported.
Host John King wondered why reporters should even trust the White House going forward. It does make you wonder; so were not supposed to believe what the senior-most official at the lunch says who then they allowed it to be the presidents name says were not supposed to believe what they say? he asked. Maybe we shouldnt believe what they say.

Funny, Mark Levin just took credit for Trump changing the speech at the last minute because of his complaints on yesterday’s show.

smh. Please stop it, Mark. Nobody is buying these delusional talking points and its bad for your show. You got it wrong or fell for fake news.
One radio show (which shall not be mentioned here for some reason) reported that the handout Trumps people had given them indicated Trumps speech was going to include Agenda 21. That was the only thing that Trump didn’t talk about. The other stuff was true.
Good points. One thing we know for certain: Trump doesn’t look to Never-Trumpers to tell him what to do.
And let us not forget the MSM could short circuit the whole thing by RESTRICTING THEMSELVES TO STORIES THEY CAN DOCUMENT!
They are supposed to be in the "news" business, not "gossip."
It’s hard for me to believe it wasn’t said (it could have been said to throw them off or as a trial balloon) because he was in the room with these anchors and said it. I don’t think they would all come out and point blank lie. There are things that are happening that could lead one to think that Trump is considering moderating. For example, he keeps emphasizing that he’s only getting “the bad ones” out, and General Kelly told McAullife that was all they are deporting.
Trump is in a tough situation because if he really lets ICE deport those here illegally, then the media will run story after story of people being deported, broken families, etc. He also has people who voted for him that held their nose or selected him as the lesser evil - people who are either GOP establishment types or moderates. I’ve seen some of these people in interviews and online, and their support is fickle. They are the type who will be more inclined to believe media reports and not vote for Trump next cycle. It’s a calculation over whether or not he can keep his base by moderating on this issue and hold on to these voters OR focus on keeping his base and hope he can keep enough GOPe/moderate types to vote for him.
As you said, Ivanka/Jared often voted Democrat are definitely more liberal than her father. Then you have the Priebus wing of the White House and GOP establishment. The media is, like I said, going to write as many articles sympathetic to illegal immigration as possible. Politically speaking, for a guy constantly getting killed, it would be simpler to pass “comprehensive immigration reform.” That said, the left will always hate him, the media will never like him, some of his base will leave, and he’ll have to hope that brokering a compromise on immigration will get him enough moderates and keep enough of the base for 2020. IMO, it would kill him with the base.
‘There’s a difference between sacrificing your principles to get a deal, and working with others, consistent with your principles, to get a deal, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said.’
Here is a named source, speaking on the record.

In NYC that’s the way you deal with chumps.
Psy Ops for the press. lol.
Great catch! Thanks.
Yesssss. We loves this.
The media reports whatever they choose too and then point fingers when they’re wrong? Kiss my butt, you deserve to be out of work. There is no more degenerate group of people in main stream America than those claiming to be journalists and striving to be nothing more than partisan shills
Mistrust begets mistrust. Don’t like it one bit when the shoe is on the other foot do you liberals. And yes I love it.
Here’s another Governor who spoke to Trump saying it will just be a focus on criminals:

He literally said in the Fox News interview that we are getting “the bad ones” out. What he intends to do with the rest we don’t know, but there is room to think some of the people will be allowed to stay. As I’ve said, e-verify, cutting off benefits, and defunding sanctuary cities will cause people to self deport.
Whenever I want good, reliable information re Trump and his policies, I turn to moonbat Leftist stoner governors like Hickenlooper. (I don’t.)
“To borrow a line from the great Charlie Daniels:
Trump has em out there steppin and fetchin
Like their heads are on fire and their asses are catchin”

Guillotines from orbit; it’s the only way to clean the fen that is ‘the press’.
I’m Southern, but I loved that song from the first time I heard it.
“Watch him folks, ‘cause he’s a thoroughly dangerous man!”
Same here. Texas born. Texas breed.
Funny how Mr. Daniels changed tunes (pun intended) from 1977 to nowadays.

Now that was a total about face. From hippy liberal to staunch American.
Agree with you that Daniels’ songs changed after his first ‘novelty,’ hit, Uneasy Rider. Daniels himself, though, was never a hippy. He was Southern, born and bred. Somewhere or other he got the idea to write a song from a hippy POV, but even in the lyrics you can tell he’s Southern. What Yankee could possibly have written:
‘I’m a faithful follower of Brother John Birch,
And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church,
And I ain’t even got a garage,
You can call home and ask my wife.’
