he photo, taken Monday, shows White House counselor Kellyanne Conway perched on a couch in the Oval Office as President Trump stands behind his desk and representatives of a number of historically black colleges and universities gather around him.
Conway is kneeling on the couch. Other pictures of the same moment show she has her shoes on.
This has, of course, inflamed the (mostly liberal end of the) Internet.
THE HORROR.
SHE IS DISRESPECTING THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT.
HOW COULD SHE.
And so on and so forth.
This tempest in a teapot is, in a word, dumb. In two words: incredibly dumb.
[Kellyanne Conway kneeled on a couch. The Internet went insane.]
First of all, every party not in the White House likes to express shock and outrage at the way the other side is treating this hallowed job and office. Republicans were incensed when Bill Clinton and Barack Obama treated the Oval Office with slightly less formality than did Ronald Reagan, who, famously, always wore a suit coat in the Oval Office.
Obama puts his feet on the desk! Obama throws a football!
This is all par for the Internet outrage/partisan police.
It was dumb when Republicans leveled the charge of Obama and Clinton disrespecting the White House. It is equally dumb now.

Yeah, they are. They can’t help but show the photo. And one picture is worth . . . .
I was a gymnast (almost 50 years ago, lol)...I do pilates (hate yoga) and have always been active. Now, I wouldn’t sit there a long time, but it’s useful and sometimes comfortable.
WHAT DID THE PRESIDENT KNOW AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?
My wife sits on the ground in our garden like that and on the couch in the living room. She's all of 105 lbs. and built like a pretzel.
When Obama was in shirtsleeves with his feet up on the desk all the time, we said Reagan never disrespected the office like that and always wore his jacket in the Oval Office.
So now, turnabout is fair play. You give lumps for something the other side does; you have to take them for what somebody on your own side does.
Look, your personal attacks show your ignorance. I’m blocking you.

I suffer from the same syndrome. I sit on my legs on a chair. I do it automatically anywhere especially when sitting at a table. I think I started doing that as a child to add height when sitting at the table. I find it always helps me sit up straight, thus no slouching.
The sofa Kellyanne is on is comfortable and may be too deep for her legs and thus may be difficult for her to keep a good posture. Sometimes when the seat is too soft, legs tend to give the support I need.
Kellyanne is sitting on the soles of her shoes. Only the top part of her shoes are on the sofa. She's not damaging anything except for her own clothes. I know this from experience sitting on a sofa like that. It is also a position to help concentrate, be alert. Notice how straight her back is?
If Kellyanne had taken off her shoes and sat on her legs, that would be too suggestive.
Probably more information than you asked for. I'm a leg sitter and proud of it!!
I don't remember much complaining about footballs or feet on the desk. But I DO remember some other complaints not mentioned: Like what Clinton used the sink for when with Ms Lewininski, and running the Lincoln Bedroom like a hotel for profit, and taking white house furniture on way out, and vandalizing the place for George W Bush (like removing the W from computer keyboards). All of which are not really comparable to how she sat on the sofa with her shoes...which I guess is why he focused on the football and feet on the desk.

Amen!
You were the one who sided against Kellyanne and with the Alinsky left-wing media attacking her.
With the Enemedia up her *** this long I wouldn’t be surprised.
That was excellent information. Thank you for taking the time to make a sensible explanation.
” ... than Monica on her knees under the desk”
Good one!
“The woman needs to get a grip, realize her position, and act accordingly.”
Yeah, baby!
Now it makes sense. A picture of Kellyanne taking a picture of the whole group, including Pres Trump. Thank you. Another example of the media misleading the public with selective editing.
Is that how they’re playing it? As if Kellyanne was a President?
Well, admittedly, that’s no more silly than us holding Obama to the standard of President Reagan.
Getting BJ’s in the Oval Office by an intern is A-OK ALRIGHTY THEN!! These people are IDIOTS!!!!
