Bleak picture emerges at hearing on city finances under Trump

--SNIP-- The hearing, which stretched nearly three hours, came four days before Mayor Kenney will deliver his budget address. He will do so in a starkly more turbulent political climate than the one that faced him for his first budget last year.

The city received more than $340 million in federal grants in fiscal year 2015, much of it targeted by the Trump administration under an executive order to pull funding from so-called sanctuary cities. Up to $638 million more in state funding could dry up if a Senate bill also tied to Philadelphia's policies regarding federal immigration officers becomes law.

Oh, I get it. It’s TRUMP’S fault that the Philly is being punished because the city’s leadership chooses to violate the law, knowing that there are penalties for doing so.

...

It’s not against the law, but it’s shady and something most people are against. Trump will win this one.

Looks like that’s almost a quarter of their budget:

The fact that 20-25% of their budget is from grants is the real crime.

Good research. That is shocking considering that illegals are such “wealth creators”. You would think Philly would be giving money back to the feds. /S

What could be worth losing millions of dollars in funding to protect illegals?

The destruction through programmed chaos and demographic change of the one country standing in the globalist NWO cabal's final implementation of their plan for total domination of the planet. That, and a bit of maintaining the old voter base.

I think that the Federal government created incentives to be sanctuary cities.

They are willing to risk millions of dollars in loss of funding to be sanctuary cities, because they aren’t willing to give up millions of dollars by ceasing to be one.

They are between a rock and a hard place. And they are in denial about which is worse.

What were they doing with all that money they got from the previous Congresses for their "sanctuary" status?

I bet they weren't doing any "sanctuary" stuff.

Yeah, Philly would rather aid, harbor, and traffic illegals than get fed dollars and abide by the law.

Take away their dollars, arrest their officials and employers, fine their constituents, and deport their illegals.

There is a chess move called a Fork. What a fork does is attack two or more of your opponent's pieces at a time, leaving the opponent with a choice if which piece they will lose. President Trump is forcing Philly to choose to pay for illegals, or citizens, including black citizens, both part of the democrat coalition.

... so-called sanctuary cities.

What is "so-called" about calling sanctuary cities, sanctuary cities? There is nothing "so-called" about them. They are sanctuary cities. Moron.

This is the major reason why I’m not worried about sanctuary cities and states. The government employees unions control most blue states won’t take a pay cut for illegals. Trump has them by the nads.
