A Georgia man and woman cried in court Monday after they were both sentenced to long prison terms for terrorizing a black childs birthday party with Confederate flags, racial slurs and threats.
Jose Ismael Torres and Kayla Rae Norton were convicted earlier this month under a street gang terrorism law for the 2015 harassment in Douglassville, outside Atlanta, and cried in court on Monday.
Video footage from the party, little more than a month after Dylann Roofs Charleston church massacre, shows a parade of trucks roaring by with Confederate battle flags.

Maybe someone else has knowledge here. Was anyone killed or injured in this incident?
It is more than a bit over the top.
I didn't see the part about the gun.Yes,that's worthy of serious punishment...at least a couple of years.
Party goers should have shot these after the threat. If they were so afraid, why didnt anyone shoot them? Sounds like nobody took the threat seriously.
Yes,if there was a gun shown the party goers would have been justified in vigorously resisting, perhaps even firing depending on exactly what the perps did.

“2 in Douglas County Confederate flag case sentenced to lengthy prison terms”
It wasn’t that bad! 20 for Torres with 13 inside, and 15 for the girl with 6 inside. These two have children. They are the one’s that may get a decent life thanks to their parents being jailed.
“Yes,if there was a gun shown the party goers would have been justified in vigorously resisting, perhaps even firing depending on exactly what the perps did.”
If somebody threatens by kids at their party, he needs to be taken out. You never know if a threat is real or not until it is too late. Better be safe than sorry.
No hate crime law in Georgia according to the article
Was a gun confiscated at the scene?
I ask because the article says, “Witnesses said that another had a gun”. There was no mention if anyone was arrested for a firearm.
“Was a gun confiscated at the scene?”
Guns don’t kill people. People that threaten to kill others kill people.
It all depends on circumstances. If,by chance,it's simply illiterate drunken rednecks involved than lethal force might not be necessary. You're right to say that you never know. Not having witnessed the event I'm reluctant to say what would, and would not, have been a legitimate response.
What hole did you crawl out of?
Lousy headline
Twenty for him and fifteen for her
Has nothing to do with the battle flag...though the papers liked to play it that way. The idiots in the trucks were mean acing and made threats and brandished at least one gun.
People that threaten to kill are not guilty of murder. Was a gun confiscated at the scene? Was anyone injured or killed?
Btw, I have no idea about this incident, that’s why I’m asking.
It wasn’t about the flag
Twenty years for him...but that includes probation time. Fifteen for her...that includes probation time
What a load of crap. The POS activist judge needs to be removed from the bench and forced to start his own circus.
We’ve got young blacks actually getting physical with whites — real hate crimes — and nothing happens to them. This is worse than what these two did.
There is no justice with our sorry ass courts now. Liberal judges (they’re lawyers) have ruined our justice system. They’re destroying our nation.
I certainly don’t believe the witnesses either. My guess is all of them were black. As we see everyday, so many blacks are just totally morally void. Their violent crime rate is disproportionate to any race in the nation.
I don’t approve of the behavior of the two but they should have been fined $1000 and put on probation.
No it wasn’t. If you don’t know about it you ought to at least read the article posted
It’s a lousy headline
He got twenty years which included probation time. She got fifteen which included probation time
If they raped the child they could have gotten less prison time. Good grief...
“People that threaten to kill are not guilty of murder”
If this was my family, they would not be guilty in a sense that they couldn’t be tried for their crime in court. They would have vacated their lives when they threatened my family’s life. Threats have serious consequences. The fear it generates need to be uprooted right there, is possible.
If not, prosecute to the fullest extend of the law. Which, in this case, seems to be decades. Good riddance to trash.
