Bush disagrees with Trump, says press not an 'enemy'

Former President George W. Bush believes President Trump is off track by fighting the media and speaking out against Islam in speeches and in his executive immigration order.

Bush didn't directly criticize Trump in an NBC interview on Monday, but he used his own time in office to contrast with what how the current president is using the presidency. When asked about Trump's spats with the media, Bush said he never considered the press the "enemy of the American people," as Trump said last week.

"I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy," Bush said. "We need an independent media to hold people like me to account. Power can be vindictive and corrosive, and we need the media to call out people who abuse their power."

And when the media we have--unfortunately have--is largely a chorus for those who hate our heritage and institutions, we need a political leader able to call such media out--to defend America against a fifth column that means us ill.

The press would NOT be an enemy if they reported truthful news instead of twisting and creating their own versions and stories.

I have (had) a friend who would consistently distort the fact of many situations UNTIL I eventually had enough of his B.S. and called him on it. He would inject facts of his own making or either embellish the details which hopefully would get someone else to agree with his version (much like the press does). When I challenged him on that, he stopped talking to me and has since avoided me. To that I say GOOD!.
