Calling them gay slurs and taunting, “You live in Trump country now,” a drunken scooter rider attacked two Key West men who were on bicycles riding home on Duval Street early Thursday, police said.
Kevin Seymour, 38, and Kevin Paul Taylor, 49, said it was a drunken tourist who followed them as they rode south on Duval Street “calling us f-----s and a slew of other anti-gay remarks,” according to a police report.

Why is a liberal California newspaper reporting on a Key West, Florida event? They don’t have enough news to cover from the “golden state?”
Editor: “We have all these stories about Trump critics- it makes us look biased.
So go find some stories we can publish about Trump supporters... the drunk ones.”

You forgot DUI, since without other witnesses we would apparently be simply accepting one side of the story here.

What the police said, they were repeating from the people that reported it then. So why not just tell the reader who said what so we can figure out how likely this really happened and how likely it is just another left wing hoax?
A witness gave a statement to police backing the couple’s story and officers said there may be security video available from nearby businesses.
I am curious to know what aspects of the story the witness backed up. That there was yelling and reckless driving? Or did the witness hear the man say it was "Trump country?". These kinds of things are important when trying to figure out the thing readers want to know.
Not a believable story. Most people who live outside a cardboard box know that Key West is very very very gay.

Just searched the local Key West newspaper, and there is nothing I can find to support this story at all. This would be big news down there.
The witnesses cannot attest to DWI.
They can attest to the Vehicular Assault.

The menacing assailant was wearing a black scooter club cut and was scary.

Also saw where the guy who got knocked over finnally managed to get in front of him ... gee, I wonder why he’d do that?
