NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — President Donald Trump’s tough talk on immigration is reverberating in New York’s melting pot.
As CBS2’s Brian Conybeare reports, false stories about widespread immigration sweeps are going viral across social media and creating a climate of fear.
It looked like a ghost town inside the Mexican restaurant run by Cesar Rodriguez along Port Richmond Avenue on Staten Island.
“It has been very slow,” he said.
Rodriguez said his business is down more than 50 percent since bogus reports of widespread Immigration and Customs Enforcement checkpoints at places like subway stations started popping up on social media. One warned people they could even be stopped on the 6 train.
“Because everybody’s afraid to come, everybody’s afraid to walk on Port Richmond, where there’s been fake news about raids,” he said.

The Gimmigrants are on the run.
False stories about immigrants being worried about ICE in the NY papers.
Immigrants comply with the laws and have green cards and are not worried.
Illegal aliens are worried, as they should be, since they are here illegally.

Especially the benefits. Bad enough that they compete in the labor market, but sucking up welfare is even worse. I once didn't take a vacation other than to visit family for 19 years, and these parasites who are living of my hard earned money are disgusting. If you caught them breaking into your home to steal stuff you'd shoot them, but they let the government do their stealing for them and you have no recourse. (Other than to vote for and continue to support Trump)
Looks like the best way to get “a day without an immigrant” is to arrest and deport the illegal ones and let them know it is happening.

May their “Fear” turn into terror.
Not just NY. It’s happening in TX. A few more stories of ICE roundups and a huge number will go home voluntarily. If Trump were to set in place a means (with extreme vetting) of allowing them to return to work if they VOLUNTARILY leave, millions will go home. Promise.
The left spreads fake news stories, then complains about them.
The media needs to do a better job of pointing out that deportation is for ILLEGAL immigrants and really only illegal immigrants who commit another major crime. Instead they seem to be trying to make sure ALL immigrants are afraid regardless of legal residency and no illegal activity.
There would not be nearly as much fear if the media reported honestly and calmed people down for legitimate reasons rather than scaring them with bogus BS.

Just wait until the states are forced to provide SS#’s for welfare benefits. That is what they are most scared. If their welfare rolls drop by 1/4 or 1/3 they will get less money and staff. They are terrified of this prospect.
