The National Weather Service in Reno, Nevada is warning of an "imminent" dam break about 85 miles northeast of the Reno-Lake Tahoe area.
The NWS is urging people to evacuate immediately.

This is alarmist BS. No “dam” is involved. A “retention basin” is simply a place where storm water can be held up so it can percolate into the ground to recharge the ground water. This is the size of a medium size pond and is most definitely NOT A DAMMED LAKE.
It’s central Lyon country. This doesn’t affect Reno unless the law of gravity decides it’s no longer in affect.
The dam Reno has to worry about is the one on Lake Tahoe feeding into the Truckee River.
Whatever’s going on, it’s the result of man-made climate change.
“Californians stepped up during this drought and saved more water than ever before, Mr. Brown said in a statement. But now we know that drought is becoming a regular occurrence and water conservation must be a part of our everyday life.

Is the water going to flush to the south?
Next is a glacier in californicate.
No, just a couple hundred tops. The warning is covering a housing area of five or six streets with 5 acre parcels on them. And right now, Sheriff’s Dept. thinks it will be okay. Hard to say. We’ve gotten more water in the past six weeks than we usually get in six years.
FYI. Tell your friends and neighbors
Stay safe !
It'd be a real shame if Dingy Harry Reid's property flooded and he drowned.
Yep, a real shame indeed.....
Stay dry!
We had a baby flood at low intersection because the storm drains were clogged, and that’s about it. The overflow trenches built after the last time the Truckee Meadows flooded seem to be doing their job.
1. for people who disregard the evocation order and are endangered?
2. to people who disregard the evocation order and are endangered?
“What? Nevada?? I thought CA was the one getting hammered.”
Uh, some ski resorts span both states.
Thanks. Have a friend in the warning area but he checked with the Sheriff’s Dept. out there and they think it will be okay.
My sister just called from Incline Village. An avalanche closed Mt Rose highway and she had to get to work via Carson City.
It’s been snowing bigly up there.
Are you saying they’ve had 125% of THEIR YEARLY AVERAGE already?
You must, because 25% above average isn’t that much over average considering normal fluctuation.
I’m about 5-8 miles from the area with the river in between. My road is flooded and running water but we’ve had extreme amounts of rain and it all drains down of the mountain range.
We’re fine and don’t have to go anywhere.
shoveling shit...right?
First I’ve heard of that.
Found out the info....East Dayton, Nevada.
