A grassroots movement that seems to be a response to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements ongoing sting known as Operation Cross Check, as well as to the Trump administration, has called on people to unite in protest. A Spanish-language flier that has circulated in Austin and on social media calls on the undocumented, residents, citizens and immigrants from all over the world to boycott work, opening their businesses for the day, buying gasoline, attending class and more.

I hope ICE took before pictures of the “brave” illegal aliens.
Does this mean these restaurants normally employ illegals? If so, then SHUT THEM DOWN!!!!
Excellent idea, but I’ll do you one better.
How about a Month Without Customers?
By all means close all those dirty taco stands and roach coaches. Then close down all the chinese restaurants serving crap and using illegal staff. Close them all down..we don’t need them. The US will be a better cleaner place without them and their illegal staff can go home.
That's what I mean by diners; restaurant customers.
I would never eat anything from them anyway.
Very picky about where and who my food comes from.
*Very*.
Good. Combine it with a week without customers.
I agree with that.
I was thinking: in Italy when we went the wait staff were professional: they made their living serving tables, pretty much everywhere we went. The places were generally clean: you couldn’t operate a crappy place because you would not get business. Not to say there weren’t any but you get the drift. Their prices were not that much different from here.
The food was better even in the tourist traps. The service was generally better and the staff fairly attentive [so long as you did not ask for ice. Ghiaccio...I think it translates to “hell no ice”].
So yes: we would be a better place.
Be nice to have a list of places committed to staying open in solidarity with our Constitutional voting process and rule of law. But heck, those are just good hardworking Americans who stay open every day.
Apparently they didnt learn from the last Day Without Immigrants aka Day Without A Mexican - this occurred during the Bush years. The only effects noted were a LOT less traffic in major cities.
“Day without an immigrant”, or as I call it “Hire an American Instead Day”
That list will be YUGE when Sessions/Trump create a nation without (Illegal) Immigrants.
I find it really offensive that illegal aliens are trying to make it look like they are part of the immigrant community. We are not illegals! We are not criminals! They are.
I remember that day. It was awesome.
I stole it, unless you yell at me.
That’s a mighty short list: could it be that, the Legislature being in session (a blessedly rare event), most restaurants are trying to maximize their business, not ruin it by being known to associate with the professional lawbreakers?
:-)
Has anyone correlated this “Day Off” with either an increase or a decrease in crime?
My guess would be an increase...
