That’s exactly right. The cable and satellite TV business has reached the point where these companies are like a restaurant with 12,000 different items on the menu. Very few of them would sell in sufficient quantity to even justify keeping the ingredients on hand, so the restaurant feels obligated to force them on customers as part of “bundles” (or “daily specials”) just to sell them. The smart restaurant owner would ditch at least 95% of the menu items and simply focus on what has broad appeal to the customers.
You’d be the ideal customer for a cable/satellite company to sell a direct subscription to these channels rather than including them in a bundle.
Of course that’s not really the case. CABLE is losing subscribers. Most of whom probably never watched ESPN in the first place. Meanwhile there’s a ton more competition, more sports networks than ever before, more sports talk shows. Everybody is fighting harder over a shrinking pie.
ESPN1, ESPN2, ESPNU, and others....
Back in the day I used to make it a point to watch The Sports Reporters at 10 AM Sunday mornings. But the posturings of Mike Lupica et al drove me away.
I used to watch PTI too, but Kornheiser and Wilbon became major Obama butt-kissers.
Then they gave an award for courage to Bruce - Caitlyn - Jenner. I was done.
Is that jack-ass still around...............?
I’m one.
Let’s have more players “take a knee” for ESPN.
WATCH ESPN lets me watch the games I want real-time or delayed and probably doesn’t show up in the Neilsens. It’s tied in with my Sling TV bundle. I don’t think I’ve watched a highlight or panel show in months.
Can’t decide if their trend towards remote announcers for some college b-ball games is a sensible cost cutting move or desperation. Last night Notre Dame at Boston College for example.
I’ve been a Saints fan for over 30 years.
When I first got Sunday Ticket, I would wake up at 8:00 and start watching pre-game coverage, I couldn’t get my fill.
Nowadays, I tune it exactly at kickoff and never get stressed out if I’m forced to miss a game...SJW’s are ruining everything.
Jumped the shark like MTV! ...
You will be pleased to know that Lupica has killed The Sports Reporters, all by himself. lol

There's no option for a conference network either, not when 5-6 of the 10 schools don't have a competitive basketball program.
The Zags are it, and BYU/SMC to a lesser extent.
Anyone who has actually been an athlete, believes in competition(obviously), not socialism. Sports should not be dabbling in politics if they want to succeed.
Newsday's Neil Best reported that ESPN Radio dropped Lupica's New York radio show in August 2105 after Lupica's show was trounced in the ratings race by Mike Francesa of WFAN.
I've always liked Francesca.
it didn’t come up my spell-check and I was hoping no one would notice lol
The Lady with the Dress should have been a wake up call for those who side of the left. People don’t want their drivel —they reject their fake tears and Marxism. they have rejected them when they voted Trump. Don’t they get it? Reminds me of an event that happened in World War One—the US Government wanted the media and people to call the US Soldiers “Sammies” (after Uncle Sam) just as the British called their soldiers Tommies. The newspapers followed orders—many of the songs used the new nickname—But the Men in Uniform hated it—so did the people. They used another Nickname—”Dough boys” After all the Red Cross donuts the soldiers ate. the will of the people will not be thwarted!
