We forgot to talk to people, said Tom Perez, who was secretary of labor until last month and a finalist to be Clintons running-mate last summer. Im a big believer in data analytics, but data analytics cannot supplant good old fashioned door knocking. . . . We didnt communicate our values to people. When Donald Trump says, Im going to bring the coal jobs back, we know thats a lie. But people understand that he feels their pain. And our response was: Vote for us because hes crazy. Ill stipulate to that, but thats not a message.
Many Democratic leaders remain in a state of denial about the lessons of the election. They have only been in the wilderness for a few weeks now, and Clinton won the popular vote. The mass protests of the past four weekends and Trumps sagging popularity have added to their overconfidence that theyll easily win again in 2020.
It was striking during a two-hour forum in Baltimore that not one of the 10 candidates for chair suggested the party should moderate in response to last years losses. Indeed, there was no substantive discussion about policy at all during the Saturday evening event. It was taken as a given that all the aspirants are committed liberals. This is a stark contrast to the ideological debates that enveloped the party following similar setbacks in 2004, 1988 or 1972. It reflects the degree to which the Bernie Sanders wing is ascendant, and Blue Dogs have left the party.

Clinton lost because she wasn’t Bernie Sanders. Sanders might have lost because of the lack of melanin and abundance of Y chromosomes, but “what if” is a parlor game.
The Dems lost in general because they had spent eight years overplaying their hand, and Trump was the one card sharp who could call their bluff and make them give up the pot.
If you set aside Tom Perez’s liberalism he is not too far off the mark. Saying “Trump is crazy” was NOT a message. At the same time I’m not sure it would have made any difference. I don’t think the left understood (and still does not understand) that Hillary is widely despised. Let’s face it, she’s a bitchy old cow and everybody knows it.
She lost because she is full or herself.
She was handed her fat ass. End of story.
...or because she has the appeal of a puddle of monkey vomit
NO, she talked too much about her own policies.
That would scare the spots off a leopard.
With no other accomplishments to her credit, what else did she have to talk about?
She lost because she was an undocumented criminal
Yeah, that’s the reason.
Clinton lost because she was herself. She’s a politician’s wife who has made what she could out of being married to a philanderer who does not love her, leaving her empty and angry and sad. Instead of kicking him to the curb like she should have long ago, she decided to hang in with him and get jobs because of him. It’s a myth that she is smart and talented — everything she touches she destroys. It’s a Greek tragedy of a life, but no one with sense would entrust such a self-loathing person with the Presidency. Make the best use of the time you have left, Hillary!
WGAS????~!
She's the president of nothing...
Well, Hillary tried, but it would take all day at the pace she was going...
They don’t seem to be learning from their mistakes.
B.S.!!! She lost because (1) she’s a loser (looser); (2) she had nothing to offer except Barky’s third term; (3) she has to much baggage; (4) she a liar, crook, sex offender (Haiti), sex abuser enabler, un American...
We didn’t want her before and we don’t want her now or in the future, she belongs in PRISON!!!
Reason number 47.6.1.3.4a
Thank you for clarifying. I was going to post, “And this is reason number ___?” Now I don’t have to.
She lost. She and her minions need to embrace the suck.
How many excuses is this?
I hereby christen HRC as Galileo Clinton.
‘Cause she’s HISTORY!!!!!
‘she had nothing to offer except Barkys third term’
That’s the bottom line. People knew what she stood for; they just didn’t want another four years of it.
