President Trump's political opponents in the music industry would like his help in at least one regard: The laws that govern who makes money off of music.
"The Recording Academy, together with America's music makers, call on the president and Congress to help keep the music playing by updating music laws, protecting music education, and renewing America's commitment to the arts," Neil Portnow, the president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, said during the 2017 Grammy Awards Sunday night.
The appeal demonstrated how the business side of the music industry will have to grapple with the reality of Trump's victory, following an evening dotted with political attacks on Trump from the artists themselves. It was also a savvy attempt to use the spectacle of the Grammys as an opportunity to win grassroots political support for the artists' running fight with the radio companies who broadcast their music.

Hilarious.
I think Trump should take them up on it. “Help me build the wall, then we’ll get to those industry laws you need.”
Let the b******* eat cake
Don’t Americans have a “right” to free music? Everything else is free. They need to just shut up and provide free music to everyone. Hypocrites.
I’ll buy you a diamond ring my friend
If it makes you feel all right
I’ll get you anything my friend
If it makes you feel all right
Cause I don’t care too much for money
For money can’t buy me love
I’ll give you all I’ve got to give
If you say you love me too
I may not have a lot to give
But what I’ve got I’ll give to you
I don’t care too much for money
For money can’t buy me love
Can’t buy me love
Everybody tells me so
Can’t buy me love
No, no, no, no
Uhhhh....no. Keep singing the anti-Trump songs and you will be financially fine.
Sure..
Someone got a thesaurus for Christmas.
Gee folks, the government is too busy fighting with the courts over immigration and has really no time to spend on the arts./s
.
The White House needs a special “shame entrance” for beggars like these, Jerry Brown and anyone from Disney.
Good luck trying to get that with your non-stop Trump bashing.
Time for copyright reform. Use the Rule Against Perpetuities for individuals (life of the creator plus 21 years) and a flat 21 years for corporate owners.
Go blow your horn !
Did that request come from the artists who tried to “ disallow” Trump using their music during his campaign or inauguration?
Are they for real? They have no shame, and I sure hope President Trump gives them the bird.
I think too many took Nancy Pelousi’s words to heart......’you don’t have to work at something you hate just to get health care coverage. Go do what you want, we will take care of you’. Many are finding out there is a new sheriff in town and he doesn’t give freebies out like candy. Grow up and work for a living. That’s how the rest of us make our way in life. And if your ‘art’ cannot support your lifestyle, get another job. We all have to do something that has value, to make enough to sustain ourselves.
The RIAA’s bought-and-paid-for laws are a big part of the reason why music completely sucks nowadays and everything is thoroughly commercialized with all the creative art stripped out of it.
Trump should tell them to go stick it where the sun don’t shine.
Does the Dersh know you're using the title of one of his books?
He should instead give them a tip that could double their incomes: stop pissing on half of their potential audience.
This is like your brother-in-law calling you a jerk and a moron , then the next day having the nerve to ask to borrow $50........................
Not a peep about Ubama for 8 long, hard, tortuous years...yet it is now up to Trump to give them redress.
Fat Chance.
