A federal appeals court has maintained the freeze on President Trump’s controversial immigration order, meaning previously barred refugees and citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries can continue entering the U.S.
A panel with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld the ruling of U.S. District Judge James Robart, who had decided Friday that Trump’s temporary travel ban should be put on hold. The Department of Homeland Security soon suspended all enforcement of Trump’s controversial directive.
The Justice Department, representing the Trump administration, could now ask the Supreme Court — which often defers to the president on matters of immigration and national security — to intervene. The Supreme Court, though, remains one justice short, and many see it as ideologically split 4-4. A tie would keep in place whatever the appeals court decides.

I remain convinced that this is a blessing in disguise. Trump is piss##d and more determined than ever to fill the federal judiciary with rock solid judges.
Trump has already LOST by not continuing his ban during appeals, and refusing the absurd TRO. Now he is SUNK. Nothing he can do except sit through a 4-4 SCOTUS deadlock and watch his presidential power evaporate. WHAT idiot advised him to surrender? John Kelly at DHS? Reince? McConnell? HUGE mistake.
That's why Trump HAD to ignore the district judge's TRO. But he OBEYED it...and now is finished.
Every order from Trump, from Sessions, from DeVos, from Price is going to the Ninth Circuit.

I don't see any evidence that they did. Personally, I think the White House is relying on the judicial branch to vindicate the President and his legal authority to protect the country.
That's an enormous gamble, if you ask me, given that the courts are now lawless.

The moment the President recognized the Seattle judge's restraining order as binding against his EO, he was doomed. He, in effect, abdicated his powers as Commander In Chief to a lowly federal court judge and his fellow travelers in the judicial branch.
It was a huge tactical error, that will now be many times harder to overcome, than if he'd simply stood firm on his presidential authority.
Liberals must be literally dancing in the streets. This is how sick I felt when Obama got re elected.. But, this actually is worse.

The appeals process, all the way up through the SCOTUS, has to be followed.
If SCOTUS decides to ignore the law and Constitution, then responsibility for the resulting civil war will be theirs...
You’d be more persuasive if you took a serious viewpoint. The U.S. is not in danger of being invaded. There are threats of terrorist attacks, yes, but no threat of invasion.

Standing firm on his lawful presidential authority from the outset, was the right way to go here, but that horse has left the barn.

They don’t have to explain it, or anything else, away. That is the nature of Leftist tyranny, they are right because they say they are.
Nevertheless, the court of public opinion is already on Trump’s side and that hasn’t stopped them from the coup-de-tat. Public opinion will not decide this, the next election is two tears away.
The administration needs to do something because as it stands, the President is neutered on national security, immigration and border control.
We have been treating illegals as if they have Rights, e.g., the Right to Free Emergency Room treatment! This Court simply added another Right such as University education. The barndoor has been swinging on its hinges for decades folks!
Trump wins when he pushes back against opponents. He is no lawyer, so the advice he is being given will set up his next move. If he tries to fight in court for optics, it will be the first time I have seen him not advance toward the enemy but just hold his line. Sadly.
