The House chairman who oversees Justice Department spending is telling so-called "sanctuary cities" that funding for police, jails and housing will end under President Trump's new executive orders tightening immigration control.

"It's real easy, their money disappears. There's no fight, their money is gone," said Texas Rep. John Culberson, chairman of the appropriations subcommittee that funds Justice.

You gotta wonder, how long will the people tolerate their local governments keeping their cities sanctuaries at the cost of losing government funds...

Power of the purse...they will all cave. In the meantime...abbott has to do something with that renegade sheriff that is breaking the law.

It will put the states into a tight spot too. they will have to come up with the lost money somehow. IOW, they’ll have to try to raise taxes on the people that don’t live in the sanctuary cities. It will be interesting to see how that shakes out.

Right up until the moment some judge rules otherwise, which had become too much of a habit these days.

I guarantee there is already a court ruling written by a liberal that delclares cutting off their money as unconstitutional.

Democrats’ and McCain’s talking points have already been written.

Calif is deep in the red. What happens when the next big earthquake comes? Overdue. And heaven forbid, a tsunami?

Can you imagine a local mayor trying to explain why taxes are going up to support this idiocy?

This will be the end of it.

If the locals want charity for immigrants and all that involves, I say go for it!

Women and children hit hardest with the cruel and heartless cuts...see the front page of the usual DBM suspects and the leading story on the alphabet networks evening news cast.

Liberals are judge shopping now to get an injunction against this, but the DOJ will be ready to stay the injunction which means a court battle will be long lived. By then the cities will cave.

I call BS on this threat, this is the ruling class version of the old rope a dope. If CONgress was serious, they would simply pass this law and send it to President Trump to sign and the Game would be OVER.::

The Judiciary Shall remain silent on All immigration issues regarding non-citizens.

A simple Majority vote and it is OVER!!!,

Any judge that says the feds must fund a city that refuses to enforce or abide by federal law would create a Catch-22.

And then a non-elected, left-wing, activist judge comes in with ultimate control over EVERYTHING and negates the whole thing. What “we the people” have chosen means nothing.

IIRC, Abbott issued a statement recently that he will remove her from office unless she changes her stance.

Yep, it they want to be sanctuary cities, let them pay for it on their own and see how long the citizens will put up with it. If they want to be like Deblazio and Emmanual, and threaten to take funds from the Police, see how long that lasts.....

"Right up until the moment some judge rules otherwise, which had become too much of a habit these days."

You nailed it. A corrupt leftist judiciary will be the shock troops of the enemy trying to take over the USA. It is going to take pitchforks and torches before the US is purged of the vermin infesting her.

Legal liability should accrue to those politicians and bueraucRATS who institute and administer sanctuary city policy.

If my person or property is negatively impacted by an illegal, who under federal immigration law, should have been detained and/or deported, I should have the ability to drag into court, the municipalities and “public servants” who created the circumstance.

I love it...simple and succinct. Perhaps simple enough that even the left can comprehend.
