When Gen. Michael Flynn marched into the White House Briefing Room to declare that we are officially putting Iran on notice, he drew a red line for President Trump. In tweeting the threat, Trump agreed.
His credibility is now on the line.
And what triggered this virtual ultimatum?
Iran-backed Houthi rebels, said Flynn, attacked a Saudi warship, and Tehran tested a missile, undermining security, prosperity and stability throughout the Middle East, placing American lives at risk.
But how so?
The Saudis have been bombing the Houthi rebels and ravaging their country, Yemen, for two years. Are the Saudis entitled to immunity from retaliation in wars they start?
....Or are we going to carry out any retaliation alone, as our NATO allies observe, while the Israelis, Gulf Arabs, Saudis and the Beltway War Party, which wishes to be rid of Trump, cheer him on?....
Bibi Netanyahu hailed Flynns statement, calling Irans missile test a flagrant violation of the U.N. resolution and declaring, Iranian aggression must not go unanswered. By whom, besides us?
The Saudi king spoke with Trump Sunday. Did he persuade the president to get America more engaged against Iran?.....
...High among the reasons that many supported Trump was his understanding that George W. Bush blundered horribly in launching an unprovoked and unnecessary war on Iraq....

Oded Yinon, “Greater Israel Project”.
Yup!!
Iran is involved in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, all of this is true, and they support Hezbollah and Hamas but that is fairly localized to that area.
Radical Salafists are after us all; US, Spain, Russia, China, everywhere.
You really are delusional.
Iran is not worth WW 3.
Bunker busters.
“He already has vowed to wipe out Isis and Islamic terrorists from the face of the earth. Repeated many times.”
He has also vowed not to lead us into any more futile Middle East Wars.
Every other country on the face to the earth is a threat.
Doesn’t mean we go to war.
1. it is not our business to tell sovereign nations what to do unless they screw with THIS NATION!!
Agreed!
2. I dont give a flat flying flip about those G damned Saudis that attacked our nation with those Wahhabi bastards and royal Family members on 911 and killed 3000 Americans - more than Pearl Harbor.
Agreed.
However, it appears the Neo-Cons hold some sway in the new Trump administration.
They will twist the events of 9-11 in some way so as to make Iran the enemy.
So we attack the dams. Think they’ll sit back and say “aw shucks”?
The entire gulf will be in flames in a matter of days if not hours.
The world economy will tank. Russia and China will not sit idly by. WW 3.
“I would have hoped that the election of Donald Trump would severely diminish the foreign ownership of our government.”
That’s what I was hoping. McCain and Lindsay are cheap tricks for the Neo-Cons. I pray Trump has the wisdom to hold the course and keep us out of further M.E. madness.
“Lindsey Graham (R-Saudi Arabia) and John McCain (R-ISIS)”
LOL! Especially the McCain part. Quite truthful too.
“The consequences all-around will be devastating.”
And....it’s unlikely to remain contained as a Sunni-Shiite religious Civil War.
Remember what the assassination of an Arch-Duke in today’s
Bosnia led to.
“Bunker busters.”
Most assuredly, just another “Cakewalk”.
“Houthis, are they Iran proxies? Who is arming them?”
Houthis are a large tribe who are native to Yemen.
They are Shiite and do not bow down to the Saudi financed Wahhabi/Salafist terrorists trying to take over all of Yemen. Iran is Shiite and has has aided the Houthis due to a relentless bombing campaign by our bestest buddies in the House of Saud.
“...we MUST learn from history or else, as we all know, we will be doomed to repeat it...”
Yes, we need to learn from history. In fact, Trump continuously reminded us about bogus “weapons of mass destruction” claims and the complete mess the Bush and Obama administrations made of the Middle East. If Iran attacks first then we should, of course, respond overwhelmingly. However, a “preemptive” attack will have long term results that we can scarcely imagine. But, I can assure you, the results will certainly cost us more blood and treasure than the “cakewalk” in Iraq cost us.
From your link:
>>”Members of the 9/11 Commission staff testified that Iran aided the hijackers by concealing their travel through Iran to access al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. Iranian border inspectors refrained from stamping the passports of 8 to 10 of the 9/11 hijackers because evidence of travel through Iran would have prevented the hijackers from obtaining visas at U.S. embassies abroad or gaining entry into the United States.”<<
Maybe true for not stamping passports. But hijackers of 9/11 held Saudi, Yemeni, Egyptian, and other passports, all very legal, issued by Saudi, Egyptian, etc. governments. None of the hijackers were Iranians or Iranian nationals.
Iran, to date, provides separate papers for Iranian-Jews, for example, when they want to visit Israel, because their Iranian passport shouldn’t be stamped if they want to visit their family in Israel - it’d prevent them from entering an Arab country if they chose to visit one, at a later date even as a tourist.
No doubt, many in the higher echelons of Iranian regime who are in charge are born in Iraq or outside Iran mostly in Arab countries.
Though, it can be almost guaranteed that if the Iranian officials knew about an AQ member passing through their border, the Saudis et al equally knew & much more intimately, about their own citizens.
Obama
Gotta muse.
Iran test fires an ICBM and UN reports in dismay it’s failure. It’s just time before the OIC is fully nuclear.
“Obama”
Perhaps, but I doubt. I tend to think Israel assessed the mission and came to the conclusion the attack had too many risks involved. However, they would love to see the U.S. do the dirty deed.
The supposedly bogus wmd’s in Iraq were trucked out by a huge 500 truck convoy. Bush avoided stopping it because of Russian truck drivers, reportedly, and this may help explain why he decided to “just be quiet” about it all - to his political detriment as it turned out the D’s used it against him to great effect. There are others here on FR who can add more info, details about this. In the current situation we are facing a rabid enemy who continually threatens to nuke us and who obama has protected and funded while it builds its nuclear bombs and icbm delivery missiles. We are in deep doo doo — To quote Bush. Unless disarmed they soon will be able to murder at least fifty or 100 million Americans in a matter of mere minutes or so. I vote that we not wait - that we not give them the First Strike advantage. A mess, yes. But DJT has a lot of street cred, so to speak. Let’s see what he can do
