You are sure to recall that during the presidential election, there was a lot of talk about Hillary Clinton and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. This is a committee that is designed to go after government officials that have broken the law. Notably, Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz reside on this board, and are well-known for their vicious work during the Clinton case.
The case? Hillary put the entire nation in jeopardy with her decision to use a private email server, delete thousands and thousands of emails despite being told not to, and involved the State Department in several pay to play schemes through her Clinton Foundation.
In other words, she is someone that should be spending her time in a jail cell. Several people were concerned that her case would be dropped moving into the New Year. However those fears have now vanished.
Jason Chaffetz is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and has just announced that President Donald Trump instructed him and the Committee to pursue every available avenue they deem appropriate. Trump has made it clear that putting the safety of the American people at risk like Hillary did is well deserving of punishment.
Chaffetz said that the conversation between President Trump and himself took place after the 2017 GOP retreat in Philadelphia. This was also his second time ever speaking with the president in person.
The Utah Republican spoke to the committee saying, He came up to me and said, you do a great job. You do a great job, which of course I agreed with. Then he said, listen, I understand that I am the President. You have a job to do. You do oversight. Dont slow down. You go after everything you want to go after. You look at everything you want to look at.
President Trump made it clear during the debates that he was going to appoint a special prosecutor in the case against Hillary Clinton. Newsflash: that time has now come.
Chaffetz continued, If you sat there and heard what he said to me about pursuing oversight of the government and the function that we fulfill, youd be pretty inspiring, and it was inspiring to me. For him to convey the message, dont slow down, do your job, theres a lot to get after with the government, I think thats a good message.
Again, this is just adding to the fact that Hillary is going to face some serious battles with the House Oversight Committee. Chaffetz has already said that he will continue to investigate her use of a primary email server while in charge of the State Department.
Just because there was a political election doesnt mean it goes away. He also called the classified emails that surfaced on the server the largest breach of security in the history of the State Department.
If you couple that with all the WikiLeaks emails that had come out during the days leading up to the election, you can clearly see that Hillary was using this to gain a political advantage. A lot of people that were donating to her Foundation did so because she had promised some sort of political favor.
Again, she put the security of the country at risk because of her decision to use a private server. Not only did she do that, but she actively tried to say that it wasnt a big deal as other people had done that, like Colin Powell.
No, Powell used a personal email account that was used for unclassified materials, like lunch runs or anything related to that. Hillary actively put the safety and security of the country at risk because of her decision, and she should suffer the consequences for it.
Actions have consequences, and putting the safety of the nation at risk is a pretty big action. Therefore, it requires a big consequence. The other thing to realize is that there is no way that Hillary can be saved. There were fears that former President Barack Obama would have pardoned Hillary over this. Now that he is out of office, there is no way that she can be saved. Were finally going to see justice!
Also, one of Hillary and Bill Clintons global foundations was shut down mere months after she lost the election. That is just further proof that she was using it as a way to get political favors. Now that she isnt in office, how can she promise those favors?
Not to mention that Hillarys other foundation is still being investigated by the FBI in several different states. There is a lot going on for the former Secretary of State, and absolutely none of them are any good for her. I wouldnt be surprised if the FBI placed charges against her for her charity.
Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see where the Clinton’s were even mentioned. Telling Chavitz to do his job was simply assuring him had congress’ back and won’t interfere AND everyone is fair game.
RE: Fake News
As you and maybe a couple others on this thread have pointed out, this article takes something that is demonstrably true (what Chaffetz said about his conversation with President Trump) and conflates other ideas that are not there. That’s the “fake” part.
What is not fake is the actual statement from Chaffetz.
After listening to the youtube video of Chaffetz’ remarks I took it that what Trump was saying is that he will not try to interfere with government (read executive branch) oversight. The way Chaffetz characterizes the conversation, it was purposeful (Trump specifically asked to talk with him at the retreat) and open about the different roles of the respective branches. The way I read it, Trump was being clear that congress can and must watch closely what he and his administration are doing.
It is an extraordinary thing. It is as though Trump says that he will hold his people responsible for the execution of their duties, and congress needs to hold his administration responsible as well.
The American people deserve such transparency.
TS/SCI on unclassified networks is anything but “nothing”.
The thousands of confidential emails are nothing, but the ~20 SCI emails are sufficient to warrant jail time.
The President can request a Congressional investigation but he can't 'order' Gowdy and Chaffetz to do anything. This is the kind of stupid click bait headline that pops up on facebook every time I look.
Did you not see the source? And a simple web search shows this on many sites.
Yes; Chaffetz did strongly oppose Trump on something a few days ago but I can’t recall what it was now.
And Gowdy... big hat, no cattle. Has he accomplished one thing as a result of his hearings and bloviating? He and Issa...
Maybe Sessions can prod them to be effective.
What, are we cheering for an Obama-like despot who can dictate what he wants to anyone? Trump can’t order Gowdy or Chaffetz to do anything. Actually it’s Gowdy, Chaffetz, and Congress that orders Trump as Chief Executive Officer to enforce the laws THEY pass.
Can we stop with the cheering for unilateral executive action along the lines of the Obama’s dictatorship and work to get back to our Free Constitutional Republic with the constitutional separation and balance of powers that is inefficient in favor of the American People and freedom?
“She was never indicted or convicted of anything. ... Therefore, she does not need a pardon.”
It’s been discussed a lot here over the past several months. Indictment and/or conviction aren’t necessary. Nixon had neither and Ford pardoned him.
I’m surprised Obama did not pardon Hillary and himself. You can do that Nixon was never charged and he was pardon(look it up Nixon was never charged with any crime ever). So yes it can be done. I was so sure he would pardon her and himself. They need to pay for what was done to USA & its Citizens.
“Ordered” seems to be the journalist’s word.
We don’t really know how he asked, I presume it was a kind discussion between two non-Clinton-like people.
Perhaps he was giving permission to investigate his own branch? We don’t know. Didn’t we do that in the 1970’s?
It is leverage to get nominations.
“Saul Alinsky overload”
very good point
Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey, “Dumb and Dumber Do Manhattan”
[Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz reside on this board, and are well-known for their vicious work during the Clinton case]
To what end other than hearing the outlaws using more Fifths than drunks on a Saturday night leaving the vicious workers impotent to do a thing about it.
Recently, 300 emails were dumped during a superbowl game. These showed that she sent classified info to Blumenthal. His system was hacked by the Russians, Chinese, and Israelis.
According to Judge Napolitano, this negates the reasoning that Comey used to fail to indict. He also discussed why an Obama pardon wouldn’t do that much for Clinton - I think it had to do with Obama could pardon her for Federal, but that there were state laws and investigations as well as violations of international laws relating to the Foundations.
Those are Congressmen, not Executive Branch employees. Shouldn’t Trump be asking them to do something, not instructing them to do something?
Interesting the Weiner story just hit too...

Maybe they can get her to flip and get names of everybody involved in every scheme and arrest all 1000, 2000 or whatever number for bribery, murder, treason, spying and whatever in return for a slap on the wrist, a pardon for Billy if he talks, too, and a pardon for her daughter thrown in just in case. The daughter is the key if her hands are also dirty, as H. and Bill my not live till 2020.
It’s going to be interesting to see what comes of this. Maybe justice will finally come to the Clintons.
Two things are certain though. This will be labeled a “Republican witch hunt” and Trump will be called a dictator “using his power to go after his political enemies”.
This is a questionable emphasis on Clinton in this article and what the President said..
Putting this on the I doubt it list
