In a private meeting with congressional Republicans this week, Vice President Pence vowed that the Trump administration would pursue a wide-ranging probe of voting rolls in the United States to examine whether millions of people voted illegally in the 2016 election as President Trump has charged.
What I can tell you is that I would anticipate that the administration is going to initiate a full evaluation of voting rolls in the country, the overall integrity of our voting system in the wake of this past election, Pence told Republican lawmakers during a question-and-answer session at their annual policy retreat in Philadelphia this week.
The vice presidents comments, captured in a recording obtained by The Washington Post, give the clearest indication yet of how the Trump administration intends to investigate whether 3 million to 5 million people voted illegally in the 2016 general election, an unsupported claim Trump has made. In the recording, Pence invoked a study that Trump has falsely claimed shows widespread voter fraud. Just because so many Americans share the concern that you have, I have, the president certainly has about people being registered in multiple states, Pence added. You can anticipate that we will be looking for ways to work with you, to simply dig into it, to follow the facts, to see where the facts go. That one-person, one-vote principle is at the very heart of this republic and our democratic institutions, and it must be defended.
Pence was responding to a question from Rep. Mo Brooks (Ala.), who complained about what he said were his own experiences with voter fraud in his district. Brooks offered to help Trump investigate such claims from his perch in Congress, saying, I pledge to support you in any way I can.

I have a feeling that states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin will have data readily available. Given the shenanigans in Detroit, I have a feeling that Michigan will have some interesting data.
The big prize would be California - there are likely millions of fraudulent votes there. Arizona is suspect too, given that they keep putting that idiot McCain in office.
Pence is a friend of Rep Todd Rocatta R IN. He was AG when IN wrote and defended voter ID law at SCOTUS. He knows why the law was written. He also de certified a certain Voter system. (Voting machine) because of how it counted votes. He also set in place the purging of voter rolls of dead and repeat registration

But, see: “Trump falsely claimed...”. Ipso facto: a lie
In such private meetings, the possible leaker is limited to:
The attending Republican members of Congress,
Any of the congressional or administration aides who attend,
Any venue staff who might be serving refreshments or managing the event,
Any security personnel on hand.
By process of elimination, since this has happened twice, presumably in different venues, the person most likely doing the recording and turning it over to WaPo is either a member of Congress or one of their aides.
A more remote possibility is that the venues were bugged in some way.
That’s what I’m talking about. Snowflakes’ heads are exploding right about now as the Trump administration starts digging into the crime, corruption, theft, fraud and racist and religious bigotry of the Obama regime.
McCarthy was right in all his claims
Trump and Pence should just assume that every meeting room in D.C. is bugged.
He’ll be every bit as independent as Kagan, the wise Latina, and the corpse Ginsburg... and that will be just fine.
Oops - I posted that in the wrong thread.
...I agree, that part wasn’t good. But FINALLY seeing the world “unsubstantiated” regarding the 3 to 5 million illegal votes, rather than “lie”, is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT for that bunch.
McCain or Graham.
Voting should require at least the same level of scrutiny as using a season pass at a theme park.\
I got a season pass for Universal Studios earlier this month and they ask for ID before issuing the pass and then pair it with a biometric scan of the passholder’s right index finger. Simple, effective, renewable as often as needed.
I’d suggest a 4-year renewal period that would be completed in time for each state’s primaries.
I do not know if there are any states that require “proof of citizenship”.
I suspect all the states assume people are honorable and will not register if they are not a citizen.
Maybe 100 years ago the honor system was ok as the Registrar of Voters personally knew everyone in their county or knew people who knew a person was a citizen or not.
The geographic size of our counties has not changed in the past 100 years, but the population of our counties has increased much.
I agree with your change from if to when.
Voter registration fraud is the most under-reported problem in our political system.
Awesome. Lets find out what is what. Lets find out the real extend of voter fraud. I don’t care what the outcome is. I want to know the truth. California signed up 800,000 voters right before the election. Start there.
Start in Clark County Nevada, home of Harry Reid and Las Vegas. If there’s voter fraud anywhere in the country, you’ll find it there, in my opinion.
Just go precinct by precinct and check the voter rolls. Each voter should have signed in at the polls.
Mail every one of them a certified letter, return receipt, and double check the ones that come back either undeliverable or no one at that address by that name. Of those that come back, verify citizenship.
Incidentally, Nevada was the only state to swing from red to blue in this election, and the Dem candidate for Senate won solely based on the Clark County votes.
If the results indicate that there’s enough fraudulent votes in that one county to swing state and federal elections, let’s have a redo, overseen by the Feds. Maybe we’d even pick up a 53rd GOP Senator in the bargain.
Not to mention shoving it to every Dem operative who claims there is not evidence of voter fraud anywhere in the U.S.
Get any random group of 100 people together and try to get all of them of to vote the same way.
Won't happen. There is always one contrary dude who is going to do exactly the opposite just because.
100% my sainted aunt's grape juice!
Let’s make 2017 the “Citizenship Year”, whereby:
Every registered voter must report to their Registrar of Voters and show them their Proof of Citizenship and if a registered voter fails to do so, then they will not be allowed to vote until they produce evidence of their citizenship.
I am taking cues from President Trump. The process needs to be short, sweet, and to the point.
"You are seeing today an all-out attempt to marshal the forces of the opposition, using not merely the communists or their fellow travelers -- the deluded liberals, the eggheads, and some of my good friends in both the Democratic and Republican Parties who can become heroes overnight in the eyes of the left-wing press if they will just join with the jackal pack." -- Joseph McCarthy
