WASHINGTON — Acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, a holdover from the Obama administration, ordered the Justice Department on Monday not to defend President Trump’s executive order on immigration in court.
“I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right,” Ms. Yates wrote in a letter to Justice Department lawyers. “At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the executive order is lawful.”

“Stand for what is right”...
Not your job, Sally...you defend the LAW, not your feelings.
“Right” is highly subjective...what is “right” to you, may be wrong to someone else.
I smell their gambit here. Force Trump to fire her and go all Archibald Cox in the aftermath.

Unless I am missing something, she should be fired tonight and a new Acting appointed who is someone vetted by the transition team as willing to support the Trump Administration. Trump can’t leave her in charge until Sessions is confirmed to maintain credibility and control.
I wasn’t aware that Lynch had resigned/left already. When did that happen? Did she jump in the river? Or perhaps something more fatal/final???

Lynch resigned noon on January 20 along with virtually all other Obama political appointees.

So the Obama-ites have chosen not to defend a policy that was based on essentially the Obama list of these same seven nations....
Where will Sally be working tomorrow?
In my opinion, I do think Trumps team mishandled this whole thing. They didn’t include current Visa holders and Green card holders and did’t communicate first with DHS and others of the EO ahead of time of the impact of the EO which didn’t at first include these folks who were in mid air travelling. This is the mess we find ourselves in now.
Then do what Ford did to Lee Iococca when they wanted to slide line him. They have him a job running a warehouse with a crappy linoleum floor he got hint and left. I am sure Justice has a supply or printing Dept. Make her the head of it. She'll find her own level....
