President Trump is scheduled to announce his nominee for the vacant US Supreme Court seat this week. There should be no illusions about the confirmation battle that will follow.
No matter what Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says about revenge not being a motive for Democrats or how fair they plan to be, theres only one way the Republicans will be able to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
Its nuclear or nothing.

Because all Democrat politicians absolutely hate the Constitution.
McConnell is too gutless to go nuclear.
At the very least if the Democrats threaten a filibuster, make them do it.
A real filibuster, don’t cave to the threat of a filibuster.
When they get tired of reading the phone book or Doctor Suess then you have a vote.
McCain, Graham, Collins, et al will fight the Nuclear Option.
Yes he will, the SC judge is too important to be held up.
Give them a taste of their own medicine for once!............
And will join with Sxhumer, with all of them, pissing in the wind
and then wondering why their pantleg is wet !
They will join the Matthews 'fan club'.
Yes, Mitch has already done everything he needs to do to lose.
“A real filibuster”
And that meaning the Alphonse D’Amato (was it him?) filibuster, where the guy literally stood at the podium and talked for 28 hours straight, including reading prolonged passages from the phone book.
None of this “9-5, we’ll continue the filibuster tomorrow at our regularly scheduled time” nonsense.
I have to agree... these Senators are so full of themselves and not into breaking protocol. McConnell will fold...better to throw Trump under the bus then the Democrats.
I wanted an update on Jeff Sessions.
According to Wikipedia, the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on Jeff Sessions for Attorney General tomorrow. It will then go on to the full Senate for a vote.
Will we need the “nuclear” (Reid) option? Will we do it if is needed?
We need Sessions now to give a response to liberal lawlessness on immigration.
A victory with Sessions continues our momentum. Any kind of stop on Sessions saps President Trump’s momentum, IMO. I’m not trying to be a crepe-hanger. I just want Sessions as AG, and soon.
Schumer is asking for a undetermined delay on all of Trump’s cabinet till all these EO’s Trump is signing are death with.
That's one reason why Cruz isn't even on the horizon.
Schumer just trying to be powerful....'cept it makes him look like a jerk...and that includes how he looks to his own party.
I think we have to give McConnell some credit for being patient here.
I think his plan is to give the Democrats a chance to be reasonable. If they pull a judge Bork on Trumps nom, who will be federal judge who has already rec’d confirmation, then he can pull the nuclear option, but it’s got to be drawn out, just like they’re doing with the cabinet members.
I think Trump has about as much patience with these yoyo’s as he have with a supplier or contractor building one of his buildings, which is little to none.
IF Schumer continues his nonsense, he’ll make him the laughing stock of the Senate.
He had already proven himself unworthy before his last election. They could have had Matt Bevin.
Since they did not choose wisely in the primary, I have always said that Alison Grimes was the lesser evil.
We already have “majority only needed” thanks to that really smart Harry Reid.
Vetted, not only by prior confirmation, but by the victory of Trump in the presidential election after he listed them as possible SCOTUS nominees. The senate majority in 2016 took the position that the presidential election in November would determine the nominee to replace Scalia. They should, as I noted before the start of the current Congress, have advised Trump that the Senate would vote on whether it would consent to his SCOTUS nominee(s) provided they were on the list he published long before election day.
