SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) The state of California is studying ways to suspend financial transfers to Washington after the Trump administration threatened to withhold federal money from sanctuary cities, KPIX 5 has learned.
California could very well become an organized non-payer, said Willie Brown, Jr, a former speaker of the state Assembly in an interview recorded Friday for KPIX 5s Sunday morning news.
They could recommend non-compliance with the federal tax code.

Yep.will be time to move in, remove and confiscate
Bring it, bastards
No federal water to California.
Phone typing...
280 billion in unfunded pensions for state workers.
Amazing how liberals support the 10th Amendment and other Constitutional matters when it is in their favor, and only when it is in their favor.
The range of federal retaliation options is enormous, consequential, and costly. You can be certain that the list of painful sanctions is already being developed.
How many Californians will be willing to risk it all just to protect illegal aliens and allow their state to violate federal law?
And just think of all the strategic Federal Government military bases right in la-la land. Idiots.
Officials are already on the hook for violations of federal law in allowing the hiring and sheltering aliens.
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)
“It is also a felony to encourage or induce an alien to come to or reside in the U.S. knowing or recklessly disregarding the fact that the alien’s entry or residence is in violation of the law. ... Convictions for aiding, abetting, or conspiracy to commit alien smuggling or harboring, carry the same penalties.”
Obama violated this federal law with his EOs.
CA prolly figures they have nothing to lose, but this is just stupid, even for them.
Agree. They see it as an existential issue and will do anything to grow the illegal alien voter base. This is clearly their #1 priority.
I think that Arizona should cut off their water if the go through with this. ;-)
“How many Californians will be willing to risk it all just to protect illegal aliens and allow their state to violate federal law?”
Other than Obama Democrats and Bush Republicans, none.
If they really want to be dramatic and make a point, they should all hold their heads underwater in the Pacific until Trump resigns. Think of the visual on CNN!
“As a Southerner may I suggest that if they do secede we dust off the Sherman Doctrine and burn California to the ground from one end to the other.”
Just the blue counties! Just the blue counties!
And Hetch Hetchy which is in a National Park.
Does this mean that I, unfortunately a resident of CA, don’t have to pay CA income or sales taxes if I don’t want to? Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Just impose a tax on SWIFT bank settlements on all in and out of California transfers. Abolishing the federal income tax is about the only thing I agree with California on.
California forgets that while it is a player in the tech field it is a piker in finances.
Yep, if they are going to ignore lawbreaking by illegal border jumpers with sanctuary & amnesty, then when I quit paying my state income taxes because it helps my family they should grant me amnesty!
“Better question. How will California respond when they shut off the valve from Lake Mead?”
I can tell you that Arizona would quickly replace the Central Valley as an agricultural fruit and vegetable producer. Any conflict that lasted over a year without water from Lake Mead will kill all of the orchards that depended on Colorado River water and, once the water rights have shifted, they would not likely go back. California has a lot to lose.
No secession without an apology to the states of the Confederacy PLUS repayment for damages. Then and only then, can they secede (with the same outcome).
Tells you how big the trust funds are of these people ...
How about we let the Bay Area and Los Angeles go their own way. Let the Leftists stew in the policies of their own making. We keep the rich farmlands and wine vineyards.
Build another wall.
