TX Sheriff Refuses to Deport Illegals, So Greg Abbott ANNIHILATED Her

The newly elected sheriff of Travis County, Texas, Sally Hernandez, announced she will not comply with federal immigration policies, but Gov. Abbott is not standing for it!

Abbott stated in an official letter, “As sheriff, your primary duty is to ensure the safety of the residents of Travis County. However, your recent policy directive…betrays your oath and the residents of Travis County. I strongly urge you to reverse that policy before its effective date of February 1, 2017.”

“This is not a pronouncement of sound public policy; it is a dangerous game of political Russian roulette — with the lives of Texans at stake,” Abbott continued.

He warned Hernandez that if she did not undo her sanctuary decisions before the beginning of February in her county, a county that includes the city of Austin, then she will lose her funding.

This could mean that the county will lose Criminal Justice Division grant money, which would not affect the country until later in the year, but the $1.8 million that was granted last year will be depleted by October of this year.

This will greatly affect the juvenile justice system in Travis County, according to Judge Sarah Eckhardt. “It hits the sheriff’s office very little at all,” she stated. “It hits the county attorney’s office, the district attorney’s office, the civil court system, and the juvenile probation system. It hardly touches the sheriff’s department.”

However, financial support is not the only worry this “sanctuary” will bring to the American people residing in Travis County, as mentioned in Abbott’s letter. Many of these illegal aliens are criminals and have been convicted of murder, rape, human trafficking, drug deals, and child sex trafficking to name a few.

While the sheriff thinks she is doing something “good” for the poor illegals of the world, she is only hurting the American people in the long run. She will lose funding for her county and will be putting the people she swore to protect in danger.

According to the new sheriff’s policy, the department “officials shall not conduct or initiate any immigration status investigation into individuals in…custody or provide information on an inmate’s release date or address to ICE.”

This means she is going to be letting criminal aliens go free with no reprimand. Hopefully, she will strongly consider the governor’s threats and undo her new policies because they will bring nothing but destruction to the Lone Star state.

Our sheriffs have a duty to the American people, not to the illegals who squat in this country and take advantage of what it has to offer. If you wish to immigrate to this country, go ahead, but do so legally. These sanctuary cities should not be implemented — they are nothing but a slap in the face to every single hard-working American in this nation. Hopefully, Hernandez’s stance will change.

Never forget, they threw a Christian woman in jail for not immediately disregarding the actual laws on the books after a Supreme Court ruling in favor of homo-pretend marriage.

JAIL for her! JAIL! Think it threw.

Never say never.

Greg Abbot was our Attorney Gerneral before becoming governor. He is very smart. Very impressive.

But with previous governors like Rick Perry, George Bush and (shudder!) Ma Richards - it’s not that hard to be better than our recent average.

Colonel Travis and Stephen F. Austin would be disgusted by this lawless behavior.

No doubt Travis County will respond by indicting Abbott on some trumped up charge.

Good point, they will probably bring back that POS Earle as a special prosecutor.

Insurrection must be stopped at the beginning. After things get beyond a few days, it becomes harder.

Difficult, she’s elected. Sheriff is a constitutional position, fraught with politics, but very powerful with regard to interaction with state and federal law enforcement.

Who authorizes counties in Texas?

I live in a county in Alabama that was created by the Alabama legislature from parts of existing counties in 1866 (Elmore). Other counties were merged together/apart in different ways over the years.

The Texas governor and legislature should merge Travis county with other more conservative counties or gerrymander new borders to force her out.

If she cannot be fired because she is an elected official, just arrest her.

No more Mr. Nice Guy....

Gov. Goodhair Perry. Too many FReepers still don’t understand what a RINO he is.

Ma Richards. I used to know a dyke who got into a physical fight with Ann’s girlfriend. Yeah, she swung that direction.

No, Austin has too large a population. Better to just wall it in to keep them contained.

Sheriffs are elected officials on their right.
So what can the governor do to her?
He can’t fire her.
He might be able to have the state cops arrest her?

If she wants to keep her county as a sanctuary county, let her! Just withdraw all federal and state $$$.

If the people of that jurisdiction want to start looking like a Mexican county, cool beans!

The Sheriff can trade in her cruiser for one of these:

Her actions are ultra vires, and she needs to be sued and held PERSONALLY accountable for each action for which she broke the law. Sue these people into poverty, and take Austin with it.
