Trumps new administration are set to review US involvement in international treaties and agreements and could cut United Nations (UN) funding by 40 per cent putting aid and peacekeeping operations across the world in jeopardy.
Speaking on Newsnight, New York Times analyst Max Fisher said the White House is mulling over two executive orders which would see a massive reduction in US involvement with international partners on a range of issues.
The order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars Max Fisher He said: There are two executive orders that are in draft form that are circulating the White House now that they are currently planning to sign by the end of the week.
The first one would review a huge subset of multilateral treaties that the United States is currently engaged in - its not really clear which of those treaties they have in mind but it looks like it opens up climate agreements and environmental agreements to be abrogated.
The second, and in some ways bigger one, is reviewing funding for the United Nations and this draft executive order, if signed, would do two things.
First, it would terminate any US funding for any UN agency that needs a subset of conditions [including] any support for abortion programs; there are a few rules that are very vague - if it includes help for countries that opposed the United States then they would cut funding [although] no one really knows what that means.
He continued: But once theyve done that, then the order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars.
President Trump's Key Moments Wed, January 25, 2017 Our pick of the top key moments so far for the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

With the US involved in UN peacekeeping operations in 16 countries worldwide, including Cyprus, Lebanon and Mali.
Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UNBBC Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UN Mr Fisher believes these places arent really in a great position to have UN peacekeepers leave suddenly because the United States no longer wishes to be part of the United Nations fully.
The United States funds 27 per cent of UN peacekeeping operations, a lot of aid to refugees - these are programs that are already stretched extremely thin.
In terms of climate change, the Fisher believes the Paris Climate Agreement would be in the crosshairs following Trumps scepticism during his election campaign.
Fisher added: Its not unreasonable to expect him to use this as a mechanism to withdraw from it.
Did you hear he wants a list every week now from sanctuary cities of all the crimes committed by Illegals? Only 4 days in office and already we are being flooded by winning.
Do you think GWB is getting jealous of Trump now? Imagine the nightmares Jebbie is having!
Trump hasn’t even scratched the surface yet. Remember, Obama’s admin passed over 50,000 pages of regulations during his two terms. Look it up.

Holy ******* mother of ****** * ******* *******.
Wow.
What a win!
Was Trygve Lie anti-American? What about Dag Hammarksjold? I know U Thant claimed to be neither socialist nor capitalist.
Only four or five Republican senators voted against joining the UN, and no Democrat, if I am not mistaken. People truly believe that an agency like this can promote “peace”.
“Love it....only 5 days in. He could retire by the weekend at this rate!!! ;)”
ROFL!
Yeah, but he’d be bored by Sunday morning and back at it.
In the 1964 campaign, William Scranton tried to brand Goldwater as “anti-UN” and what a horror that would be.
......and there is no civil rights for illegal immigrants felons......so their names address and photos will accompany the crime description.
So far, I just can’t get enough of winning. It is orgasmic!
The US Navy is going to have to invent an entire new class of ship to name after this guy. Never seen anybody beat so much ass in such a short time on such a big scale in my life.
Ha....jebbie has a garage full of glockamolie bowls for sale
.
The UN is an instrument of war and genocide.
Its home sits literally on the Church of Satan.
Visit it someday; its guaranteed to give you the willies.
.
I went there on my first visit to NYC; never went again on the eight visits thereafter. It’s been so long since I was there that I don’t recall it well at all.
We know that, but the American people think it is essential to “peace”. Can you think of anything the UN has done that was constructive? I guess the UN “peacekeepers” in South Korea, but they had only limited success.
Bump for later.
However, withdrawing from such things as the Paris agreement, the desertification treaty and the biodiversity treaty, if they happen, only represents more WINNING!
