During a ceremony at the Department of Homeland Security on January 25 honoring the departments newly confirmed secretary, retired General John Kelly, President Trump signed two executive orders related to immigration one to begin construction of a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico, and the other to strengthen immigration enforcement. The latter order would end the "catch and release" policy practiced under the Obama administration under which illegal border crossers issued a "Notice to Appear" and released instead of being detained and processed for deportation.
A "Notice to Appear" is basically a summons issued to an illegal alien who is released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear before an immigration court at a future date. A large number of those issued such a notice fail to show up for the hearings.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that the first order signed by Trump calls for the construction of "a large physical barrier on the southern border." "Building a barrier is more than just a campaign promise, its common sense, the first step to really securing our porous border," Spicer told reporters Wednesday. "Federal agencies are going to unapologetically enforce the law no ifs, ands or buts."
When asked during an interview with ABC News shortly before signing the orders when construction on the border wall would begin, Trump replied, "As soon as we can physically do it. I would say in months certainly planning is starting immediately."
The Hill reported that the immigration executive order also seeks to withhold visas from countries to make sure they take back people who have entered the United States illegally and who to have broken other U.S. laws.
Furthermore, the action would strip federal grants from "sanctuary" cities and states that do not enforce federal immigration laws.
"Were going to strip federal grant money from the sanctuary states and cities that harbor illegal immigrants," Spicer said.
We noted in a recent article that more than 200 municipalities (including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, New York, and Washington, D.C.) have declared themselves to be "sanctuary cities."
In that report, we cited a CNN report last September 1 that quoted a statement from then-candidate Donald Trump regarding sanctuary cities:
Block funding for sanctuary cities ... no more funding. We will end the sanctuary cities that have resulted in so many needless deaths. Cities that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities will not receive taxpayer dollars, and we will work with Congress to pass legislation to protect those jurisdictions that do assist federal authorities.
The Washington Post cited a statement from White House officials who said that Trumps appearance at DHS is meant as the first step in a series of executive actions to begin fulfilling his campaign promises on immigration.
The Post also reported Spicers statement that Trump would immediately sign any orders overturning the Obama administrations Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that has allowed more than 700,000 aliens brought to the country illegally as children to apply for two-year work visas.
Trump has promised to overturn DACA, which has been among the Obama administrations most controversial programs.
"The president understands the magnitude of this problem," Spicer said of DACA. "Hes a family man. He has a huge heart."
Trump will work to eliminate DACA "in a very humane way," Spicer added.

He has to stop DACA. USCIS is still taking new applications.
Every day they are giving 140-150 new illegal aliens work permits and permission to stay.
Even if they do not rescind papers already issued, they must stop handing out new ones.
Every illegal alien allowed to stay under DACA will make it that much harder to deport anyone but the hardened criminals.
Instead, it's the "Press" who are trying to keep up with drinking from Fire Hose Trump!!!!
God, how I love this man!

Wow, working FOR Americans. A huge change from the Kenyan Obama.

Trump is and always will be Hosing the MSM!
Keep up the good work for America, President TRump!
now this is more like it ;-)
Rewarding criminal behavior encourages more criminal behavior. People cannot begin their careers in America by breaking the law. Further, it hurts minimum wage American workers by causing them to compete with millions of foreign workers. I am dismayed at those in Congress who lack the understanding of this critical issue to our nation.
I like most Americans are in favor of legal immigration for those who are willing to learn our language, culture, and invest the time and money required to become a U.S. citizen - but not for those who willfully break on our laws, spit on our country, demand benefits, and are not willing to go through proper channels to become an American citizen.
What is the solution? It wont be easy because we didnt get into this situation overnight. I believe we need to do the following immediately:
1) Secure our borders
2) Enforce existing law
3) Not allow any amnesty provisions of any kind
4) Improve our visa system
5) Prosecute and fine those businesses which knowingly employ illegal workers
6) Give law enforcement officials the necessary resources and authority to combat illegal immigration
7) Deport illegal aliens violating the law after being fingerprinted, photographed, iris scanned, charged with a felony, and their information placed in a national database.
8) Send a bill for deportation/prison costs to the embassy of the illegal immigrants national origin.
9) 2nd time and thereafter repeat offenses by illegal aliens should be sent to work prison camps for a maximum of 6 months - building the southern fence/wall.
10) Seize and liquidate all assets from illegal aliens and use the proceeds for our military and local law enforcement.
11) Must not give illegal immigrants government welfare benefits of any kind, including Social Security
12) Designate English as our national language
13) Change the 14th Amendment regarding birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants
14) Mandatory proof of citizenship for voting
15) Mandatory proof of legal status for DL or ANY government issued ID or benefits card
16) Put pressure on the Mexican government and other nations to reduce illegal immigration to America.
17) Encourage only legal immigration and citizenship to for those wanting to become Americans.
These ENFORCED changes would strengthen America greatly.
I think you missed an important one — anyone who was “caught and released” and then does not appear at their hearing should immediately be the subject of a “bench warrant” for deportation without further appeals. If they don’t appear, they abrogate all further rights to appeal. That takes care of the endless appeals in backed up immigration courts.
If it is a minor, and the parents (or person who signed the release documents) are illegal, deport the parents; if the parents are legal non-citizens, revoke their documents and deport them. Seize their assets.
Do not pass “GO”, do not collect $200.
“A “Notice to Appear” is basically a summons issued to an illegal alien”
Otherwise known to illegal Cornholio as “TP for my culo”.

Couldn’t agree more.
