Trump Warns Chicago: I'll 'Send In The Feds' If Violence Rises
The Washington Examiner ^ | 01/24/17 | ANNA GIARITELLI

President Trump on Tuesday evening threatened to send government officials to the Windy City if the Democratic mayor and city police cannot turn around the city's rocketing homicide rate.

"If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible "carnage" going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!" Trump tweeted around 9:30 p.m. EST Tuesday.

Gun-related violence in Chicago is outpacing the same period in 2016, which was one of the most deadly years for the city in recent history. From Jan. 1 through Monday, 37 people were killed and 250 people were shot, according to one survey.

Active riots is one thing (insurrection). Local police unable to handle basic thuggery is another.

“Active riots is one thing (insurrection). Local police unable to handle basic thuggery is another.”

I suppose that’s true, but Rahm is going to have to buck the Black Interest Leaders if he can’t bring in a positive result very, very soon, and they will start publicly asking Trump for some sort of intervention.

He’s trolling them.

The feds have no jurisdiction or authority to do that.

I suppose the governor could send in the National Guard. But that would be a huge mistake. Really, all that can be done if Chicago doesn’t fix itself is let it go to hell. The problem will solve itself eventually when all the normal people leave.

"Is it legal to send in the feds?"

Since most of the these crimes probably involve violation of federal gun laws (felons with guns), yes. What is needed is to actually prosecute these cases. They rarely are.

I would think that any law enforcement agency not bound by black’s demands for preferential treatment, and not answerable to the likes of black mayors (Ferguson, Chicago, etc), could make a huge difference.

That’s more like it.

Especially if that analysis hammers on RKBA, and why non-criminal victims are almost entirely disarmed, and consequentially we see “US vs City of Chicago, conspiracy to deny rights” (which, if you read the applicable law, is VERY severe in consequences).

But how will that work and what exactly would they do?

See #28.
Trump may not go as far as “boots on the ground”, but he can (and should!) make things extremely uncomfortable (i.e.: prolonged jail time) to those facilitating this free-for-all of hooliganism.

America does not need federal forces patroling its local areas. Just end DOJ’s legal war on the police.

True conservatives would be against this. Chicago, loosely defined, is a city, inside of a sovereign state. The Fed govt would do better if it reduced its intrusion, not increased it.

This is part of Barky’s ‘Hate America’ plan, cause chaos in the inter cities, keep the ‘people on the plantations’...

Well now we have a New Sheriff in town and this crap isn’t going to fly anymore, and neither is it going to be okay for these ‘hands up don’t shoot’ loons getting away with killing our Police...or anyone else as a matter of fact...

WOOHOO!!! Way To Go President Trump!!!

I agree 100%. Didn’t Obama say, “if you like your black on black violence, you can keep your black on black violence”? When your enemies (the communist left, progressives, rioters, thugs, drug dealers, pimps, murderers) are in the process of destroying themselves, stay out of the way.

Wasn’t that done to enforce civil rights and school desegregation? It may be mostly thugs killing thugs, but innocent people are also being murdered just because they’re in the way. No one should have to live with that.

That enforcement was focused on illegal abuse of specific people under particular conditions - the federal law could be enforced by identifying who & where defense was needed against specific/active/violent suppression of rights.

Chicago’s issue is random thugs randomly killing. Who, where & when active defense is needed is impossible to identify ... but the right of individuals to provide for their _own_ defense IS being actively suppressed by the local government, and need be emphatically dealt with by federal involvement (to wit: conspiracy to deprive rights is a federal high crime, punishable up to execution).
