The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, told his top agents from around the country that he had been asked by President Trump to stay on the job running the federal governments top law enforcement agency, according to people familiar with the matter.

It's probably true. Trump had not released a list of possible FBI heads to date.
Thanks for proving how FR still reads and reacts to NY Times articles.
For a moment I thought we had done something crazy like stop using that thing as a source!
Not all battles have to be fought at once.
Varney on FBN says Comey announced to his agents he is staying.
Oh, no, Trump is so stupid/ s
If he’s been wise on other choices, why do people jump to he’s wrong on this?
Trump thinks different then most, he’s many steps ahead of “now”.
“I dont know. He knows where the bodies are buried and could be very useful if flipped.”
My thoughts exactly. He’s Trump’s #itch now.
That and he can be brought up on charges for the way he handled the whole matter...compromising witness testimony, burying evidence, etc. He’s the foremost authority on the matter and knows where the political battle lines are drawn.
President Trump:
You will be sorry you kept Comey. The Media-crats are going to kill you over this.
ooooh! I bet Trump is scared now LOL
See post 16... Lot of delusion around here.
If this is indeed true, then this is something about which I will write Trump. It is a wrong decision.
I don’t know if that is the right move, but if it makes the Democrats mad, it is okay.
Thailand?
No, Comey is malleable. Comey knows the insides and out to present to the new attorney general.
Comey is now vulnerable to Arkencide
so you know ALL the facts and details behind the scenes?
Trump is not stupid. stop thinking he is.
It's also possible that by retaining Comey, Trump can distance himself from the Clinton Foundation investigation by claiming it's being conducted by an Obama holdover.
I think Comey was trying to remove the investigation from politics, while still helping the voting public to know they had their hands full of political crap dealing with DOJ.
Maybe that’s where the bodies are buried. Comey knows.
No, I don’t and neither do you. Stop presuming to tell someone else what to think. Faith is one thing, blind faith is another. I am not so foolish to be cast in the latter.
This may be another case of Trump being ahead of the crowd. Comey knew, after the meeting between Lynch and Clinton, the Justice Department would never prosecute Hillary.
So he lays out a case and then says he’s not going to recommend prosecution. Why? He knows the “fix” is in, but he DOES get the details out to the electorate.
With Sessions as AG, there is a good chance the case will be reviewed and a few “pertinent facts” emerge changing the dynamic of the case. Election over...Lynch gone...Hillary without pardon...could be time for a Grand Jury.
Trump, takes the high road and lets Sessions be the bulldog. If he wanted to really destroy the Clintons, he could let everything play out. Let her and the Foundation be indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced and then pardon her for “the good of the country.”
It could be devastating to not only Clinton, but the Democrat party as a whole. Not to mention it would expose the overseas influence in the State Department (which would immediately be purged by Tillerson).
Could be a very interesting couple of years.
