National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Corporation for Public Broadcasting are rather trivial expenses compared with the federal budget, but they are also unnecessary expenses. With a $20T debt, we cannot justify borrowing to pay for these and leaving that added debt to our children.

Debt per taxpayer: $166,000
I hope the Department of Education, the Department of Energy (except their nuclear weapons), BATFE, and most of the EPA are next on the list. Let’s cut the big wasteful bloated departments along with those three little wasteful luxuries.

You will be surprised at the tremendous research done in physics, chemistry, chemistry, biology, and other sciences at the laboratories funded by dept of energy. I did work at one of those laboratories, many years ago, and that basic research filters into hundreds of uses in industrial applications.

I would love to see the U.S. Debt Clock come to a standstill and then start backing up. LOL!

The DOE was established in 1977 by Jimmy Carter. Since then not one kilowatt of electricity, one bbl of oil or one C’ of natural gas has been generated by this department. They have however made it more difficult for private companies to find, secure, retrieve, create and deliver energy to the masses at reasonable cost.
They should be closed and the nuclear oversight should be returned to the renamed Department of War.
