Washington (CNN)In the final days of President Barack Obama's second term, a couple of his critics took a moment to express some kind words.
Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Arkansas, and Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in separate interviews Wednesday that Obama brought "dignity" to the nation's highest office.
Cotton, a junior senator and frequent critic of Obama's national security decisions, said: "President Obama has been a good role model for young men throughout our society, especially people like him who grew up without a father." "I think the kind of quiet dignity that he's brought to the private side of his life sets a really good example for young men all around the country who maybe don't have a father-figure or don't have a role model they can look up to," Cotton said.
And Manchin, a moderate Democrat from a conservative state, sized up Obama's legacy in a few words. "He really brought a lot of dignity to the office, when you look at basically his family life and how he raised these two wonderful daughters," Manchin said.
He struck a similar note as Cotton, but also praised the direction Obama pulled the country in, while acknowledging their policy differences.
"The way he came in, and the way he's going out: without any mars to it, without any blemishes, without any scandal," Manchin said. "We are in better shape right now. The thing that bothers me most is we have about a $20 trillion debt."

Tom Cotton says this? I’m surprised and a little disappointed. Maybe his one to one interaction with Obama was pleasant, but I would hope Cotton could see the much bigger picture of how most the country feels it was ‘treated’ by eight years of the Obama Way.
Yeah, Tom - who could forget the “dignity” of giving the islamic terrorist state of Iran $150+ billion dollars?
Oh yeah, you were THE ONLY GUY who voted against it.
And now you spout this feel-good nonsense on a liberal propaganda network?
SMH
Dignity? It’s not difficult to understand why Obola has always claimed to barely know Bill Ayers.Apart from his activities in the 60âs/70âs (I wonder if he’ll ever be indicted for the murder of that San Francisco police Sergent) that interview published in the 9/11/2001 edition of the NY Slimes would be tough to explain for several reasons.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?
Obama further blew up the Middle East. Tom Cotton (NeoCon that he is) is okay with that.
More fake news from CNN.
IMO that is about the *only* nice thing one could say about Zero. Beneath the quiet dignity is a sense of duty contrary to our founding principles, beginning with the concept of “no borders” wherein we may uphold and defend the Constitution with its limitations on federal meddling.
I started gagging early on but made it to
>> “The way he came in, and the way he’s going out: without any mars to it, without any blemishes, without any scandal,”....before I actually puked...
“If you can’t think of something accurate to say, don’t say anything.” The way you handled it, you both look like buffoons.
Obama, the Choom-gang sodomite who dashes off to bathhouses, is the worst ever “role-model’ for black children. To think that a man who referred to white police officers as “Stupid” and praised and glorified the Black Muslim Brotherhood and evil hoodlums and the evil, vile ideology of islam, and stated that criminals “ could have been my son”-—is evil to the core (and satanic).
A hard core Marxist has no soul: they want to dehumanize every last man and woman and child and make them into godless cattle, to be herded and killed when they are useless eaters. Everything they plan is to destroy Freedoms of the masses. Everything.
Cotton had better educate hiimself into what narcissists and evil degenerates homosexuals are—and how removed from Reality, Truth (God) and EVERYTHING our Constitution was founded on. Obama spit and peed on our Constitution daily as he was snickering and giving us his middle finger!!!! He is a Luciferean.
Et tu, Tom Cotton? Why is it that Republicans can’t stop sucking up to these statist dirtballs, while Democrats never have the decency to extend even the most fundamental courtesies to the opposition? And nobody notices this or calls them on the carpet for it. Nothing pisses me off more than the double standard in this country.
