The New York Times faced a backlash Thursday after its only source for a negative story on former Texas governor Rick Perry accused them of taking his remarks out of context.
The Times reported Wednesday evening that when Perry accepted Donald Trumps nomination for the Secretary of Energy position, he initially misunderstood what the job even was.
Mr. Perry gladly accepted, believing he was taking on a role as a global ambassador for the American oil and gas industry that he had long championed in his home state, they wrote. In the days after, Mr. Perry
discovered that he would be no such thing that in fact, if confirmed by the Senate, he would become the steward of a vast national security complex he knew almost nothing about, caring for the most fearsome weapons on the planet, the United States nuclear arsenal.

The NYT will soon be living in a cardboard box in front of the NYT Building.
I wonder whether this is sloppy reporting from random trolls, or whether this is Russia hacking our free press. I blame the Russians.
[Note to the NYT staffer lurking on this thread: You can quote me on Russia, and I’ll stand behind my story with all the loyalty your paper shows to America, perhaps even with the trustworthiness of Lucy holding a football for Charlie Brown to kick.]
I wonder if we will see the day when the national MSM is held to account for it’s sins, and a return of journalistic integrity?
All that is really is a sense of conscience - a self-imposed discpline to report fairly and honestly, the same ethics that good parents try to instill in their children. And just like the kid who ignores that teaching and ends up in prison, so has the MSM been the cause of its own demise.
The reason the MSM is trying to kill the term “Fake News” is that almost all samples are from them.
The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.
Very cute... “:^)
Remember how the democrats and MSM were screaming for a fairness doctrine? Now is the time to give them one. Do it in a way that every broadcast, every article, every show is regulated to a point to where either the truth is told, or the fine and loss of license is too great for them to operate.
That the Energy Department has ANYTHING to do with nuclear weapons is a travesty.
Protocol: Hand over your WH credentials (or be required to sit waaaaaaaaaaay in the back) for 90 days. Next offense, 180 days, followed by 360.
I am worried that they will have cried wolf so many times that no one will believe them and that will be when we need to believe them.
They have been bias as far back as I can remember. Heck, their misrepresentation of Communism during the Cold War was obvious (hindsight is 20-20). The Communists were indeed evil yet the media always seemed to be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The nyt is a mother faker!
I guess they are like Hillary......they never give up an opportunity to lie if they think it will advance their agenda.
>> Remember how the democrats and MSM were screaming for a fairness doctrine?
I do. I was thinking about that the other day.
I’d prefer the public let the parent companies know how they feel instead of regulations. Parent companies include: Disney, Comcast, Time Warner, and somewhat Amazon. These companies are effectively pissing on half the Country, and in my opinion, don’t deserve to be patronized for it.
Regarding PBS, it should be either dissolved or required to demonstrate equitable content and opinion. Currently, it doesn’t.
I'm also sure they are very sorry for pointing out Fake News using that moniker.
Folks on our side neutered a number of attempts to denigrate us with titles this last 20 months or so.
Hillary called us deplorables. We instantly wore the title like a sport coat and were proud of it. It signified the loyal opposition to the Leftists.
You mentioned fake news. They tried to pin that one on us, and we didn’t bat an eye-lash. We just started calling them on it every time they published fake news. All of a sudden, it wasn’t a very happy moment for them. LOL
I’m sure there are other examples.
Our side finally came alive and shoved everything back in their faces.
