WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has written 275 briefing papers for the incoming Trump administration: nearly 1,000 pages of classified material on North Korea’s nuclear program, the military campaign against the Islamic State, tensions in the South China Sea, and every other kind of threat the new team could face in its first weeks in office.
Nobody in the current administration knows whether anyone in the next has read any of it.
Less than three days before President Obama turns the keys to the White House, and the nuclear codes, over to President-elect Donald J. Trump, Mr. Trump’s transition staff has barely engaged with the National Security Council below the most senior levels. His designated national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, has met four times with his Obama counterpart, Susan E. Rice, most recently on Tuesday afternoon.

I would walk into the white house, have a fire barrel ready outside, then drop everything in and light it up. I would then explain to the media what it is and why I’m doing it. Basically explain that I don’t trust anything they said.

Not to mention the number of papers/pages seems essentially like overkill. Maybe it’s all just reiterations of what the transition team already knows padded with verbosity, opinion and adoring references to zer0’s sagacity.
There's reason #1 for hiring people with military experience, the ability to step into new situations and be productive on day one.
When I was a butterbar, I was never in one job more than 6-7 months. Chaparral Platoon Leader, three months later the PL for both Chaparral platoons. Several months later, Vulcan PL for six months, then Maintenance Officer. My training for that thankless role was a week long Motor Officer course.
Following that seven months in hell, I was kicked upstairs to Battalion HQ, as the word came down our NBC (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical) program was going to be inspected by Department of the Army. I was recommended for that job by S-3 staff who saw how I handled that extra duty at battery level.
Shortly after that, I was assigned as the XO for a 3 month TDY at a German anti-aircraft range. Our support detachment consisted of 40 soldiers from units throughout Germany: cooks, MP's, mechanics, etc. Our support was 200 miles away (Bremerhaven), and home base was 400 miles away. My interpreter was reassigned to other duties after my first meeting with the German base commander: after a couple years in country, I spoke the language quite well.
Trump's people are not the professorial types preferred by Obama...he's bringing in people who know how to lead and make independent decisions, react to situations with a clear head, and the bad guys around the world understand that.
The last time they prepped the transition material, we got 911.
