Flashback: Journalists Mocked Trump’s Announcement As A Joke
Media Research Center ^ | 01/19/17 | Rich Noyes

When Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign on June 16, 2015, the savants in the news media weren’t just skeptical — they were openly disdainful of the man who will be sworn in as America’s 45th President at noon tomorrow.

Reporters sniffed that Trump’s campaign was a “carnival show” which threatened to turn the GOP primary race into “a joke.” CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin called Trump a “fool,” NBC’s Chuck Todd blasted him as “a political streaker,” and pundit after pundit insisted the real estate mogul had no chance of winning.

“Can we stipulate for the purposes of this conversation that Donald Trump will never be President of the United States?” Mike Barnicle proclaimed on MSNBC’s Morning Joe less than 24 hours after Trump’s campaign kick-off.

Trump’s candidacy was cast as more entertaining than important. NBC relegated it to the third slot on the June 16, 2015 Nightly News, after stories about a fatal balcony collapse and tropical storm. CBS pushed it down to the sixth slot, while ABC’s World News Tonight made it the ninth item of the night, 13 minutes into the 30-minute broadcast.

That night, Trump’s announcement merited less overall broadcast evening news airtime (4 minutes, 27 seconds) than an interview with Rachel Dolezal, a white Washington state NAACP official who sowed confusion by identifying herself as black (6 minutes, 29 seconds).

In contrast, when Barack Obama announced his presidential bid on February 10, 2007, both ABC and NBC led their evening broadcasts with the news, even though it had been anticipated for months. (CBS was pre-empted that Saturday night.)

I thought his run was going to be like all the other times he has run and I still believe that...

Then something changed. The stars aligned. God intervened.

It started with the comment on illegals and snowballed.

Thanks for the good memories as all types of fake news is spewing out trying to mar Trump becoming president.

Treat yourself to a MAGA brand new book co authored by one of our own, LS. Enjoy reading about how Trump defeated these lying mediots and the Clinton/Obama thugs.

A great read for this great week. Forget the negative bs and get this new book on Kindle.

“How Trump Won: The Inside Story of a Revolution”
By Joel Pollak and Larry Schweikart
Kindle Edition

Read what really happened last year, with these two great writers.

For those of us, who endured all of the fake news and lies from both sides of our political nation about Trump. LS was a continuing source of comfort when the mediots lied about Trump with fake news or came out their endless fake polls showing Clinton winning.

If you really want to know How Trump Won, get this great book on Kindle or print.

I just got it on Kindle. You can try a chapter or so for free. I ordered the full book, before I finished the sample.

How Trump Won: The Inside Story of a Revolution
Joel Pollak and Larry Schweikart
Kindle Edition

Thanks to Larry and Joel for a great book!

MAGA!

Meida and Hollywood got a dose of reality in that much of America doesn’t elevate what is perceived in some circles as importance.

I missed the escalator ride and the announcement, but he sure got my attention when he went to the Mexico Border, followed by hundreds of reporters and took questions as if he were already president.

Everyone that mocked Trump when he announced and through his entire campaign now have egg all over their faces; they are humiliated. I believe that is why they are squealing like pigs now.

Frankly, I thought it was going to be like 2012. He got in, then, and had a lot of support, including mine, and in the blink of an eye, was gone! I thought the same would happen again. Glad to have been on the Trump Train for the ride, this time!

The minute he talked about a wall and deportation - at the same time that Cruz backed down on doung anything about illegals - I jumped on the Trump train. With millions of others.

First they said it was all just a publicity stunt. Then they said he would never file papers. And it got worse from there

Now they are hoping for martial law.

Idiots

Don't forget that the Huffington Post gleefully announced that they would put news of Trump's presidential campaign in their "entertainment section" - until such time they were forced to move it back into regular news (only without the fanfare).

One of the greatest joys of the past campaign was seeing the so-called "smart press" totally and completely humiliated. Time after time after time.

And the humiliation of these now totally discredited media cretins continues to this day.

I downloaded my Kindle version of "How Trump Won" a couple days ago and I'm already 60% through the book. It's a fantastic read and Free Republic gets mentioned. My screen name even made the footnotes (along with other Freepers).

The print edition comes out end of February and I will buy that as well provided that LS personally signs the copy!

Thank you. Always occurs -—not you or Freepers, but a couple of Twitter people-—that at the time, “Oh, no. Just keep me anonymous” then when it releases, “wow, can you get my name in?”

I'm guessing they didn't want their names published at the time because they figured Trump would lose. But now that he won, they all suddenly want to be recognized.

You know the saying about "victory has a thousand fathers but defeat is an orphan" - or something along those lines.
