How puerile can progressives be? Childish enough to taunt someone over his name, and even ascribe ideological views to a person based on his moniker. And here we thought liberals prided themselves on never judging people on their superficial characteristics.
On Joy Reid's MSNBC show this morning, Reid, and guest the Rev. Mark Thompson, a talk radio host and civil rights activist, made a point of mentioning AG nominee Jeff Sessions' full name: Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. The presumption is that he was named after Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. Thompson took things an ugly step further, calling Sessions "a Confederate Attorney General."

And Jewish!
Judah P Benjamin - 1st Attorney General CSA. Later he was Confederate Secretary of War
And ended as Secretary of State. Not a bad run, all things considered.
This was specifically addressed to our attorney general nominee, but I would not classify it as limited to that nominee or position, but to Trump and all his appointees. I’m may get some push-back on that, but that is ultimately my take on this.
The Democrats ruled the South During the Civil War. After the war they formed the KKK and ran it from it’s inception well into it’s hay day in the early 1900s, and beyond.
While one guy may have been Jewish as you pointed out, that’s not indicative of the over all Confederate movement, which was predominantly Democrat.
Jeff Sessions (Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III) was named AFTER HIS FATHER, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, Jr., who was named after HIS father who was more likely named after Thomas Jefferson than Jefferson Davis (who himself was named after Thomas Jefferson) despite unsourced lib claims. “Beauregard” was the probably the surname of JB Sessions I’s mother or his father’s mother. Both “Jefferson” and “Beauregard”, very common southern names.
Lib slime twist the facts to fit the narrative.
And finally a very successful barrister in merry olé England!
Alexander Stephen the CSA Vice President was a southern Whig (later moved from Whig to Democrat to Constitutional Union Party!) and a good pal of a certain A Lincoln!
Earth to Joy Reid - the South, once known as “the Confederacy”, has evolved. No longer the home of the Democrat-sponsored KKK (the Democrats have all died or moved to California), the current residents of the southeastern quarter of the territory once known as “the United States of America” are, for the most part, either transplants, or born-again conservatives, an enlightened breed that took to heart the lessons won at so dear a price by those “dead white men” identified as the Founding Fathers of the American Spirit.
The principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and incorporated in the Constitution of the United States of America, still live there, keeping the faith and the flame alive.
Good for him; but as to that being South or Southwest, it certainly is not the Deep South.
Judah Benjamin ran away and never came back. Stayed in Europe after the war.
Both Jefferson and Beauregard, very common southern names.

And people raised sand with me for naming my dog Phideaux.
RACISTS.....
At least when the moons turn over many times and people are ‘researching’ names they will be stymied when
Jhzacluwi or Shananadingbatdong or YzYIy shows up.
Funny during the ‘Ebola’ scare people with African Tribal names were treating a patient from Liberia.
Jackuzzli & Tonawanzagua from Houston Texas were treating
Thomas Eric Duncan - - - a Black man from Liberia....
go figure
Thank you. Interesting.
It was part of the Confederacy.
Just think of the names we could have called Byrd.
Reminds me of the Union officer in the Civil War who caught hell because he had the same name as the President of the Confederate states, Jefferson Davis.

I don’t recall the book title but there is a great story out there about Breckenridge and Benjamin’s flight south through Georgia and Florida then on to Cuba.
Breckenridge had sunken a boat in a creek in FL in the early days of the war just in case he ever had to do what he did.
Might have been in The Long Surrender by Burke Davis.
Some “Reverend.”
LIB lunatics on parade. What a pathetic, ugly spectacle of self-debasement. Bwaaaaaaaaaaahahaha.
I’ll take “Jefferson Beauregard Sessions” over “Barack Hussein Halal Falafel Obama”...
The left hates Sessions because the gravy train of preferential treatment is about to end. Oh, and he’s not going to back down from investigating that criminal enterprise known as the DNC.
