Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed pushed back Saturday on President-elect Donald Trump’s assessment of civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis’ district.
In a series of tweets, Reed said: “John Lewis is an American hero & a national treasure. Period. Full stop.
“That PEOTUS Trump would attack Congressman Lewis on MLK Day weekend for “all talk…no action” when he bled to actually “Make America Great” is why far less than half the country supports him at the dawn of his presidency.”
Trump said Lewis’s district was “in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested)” in an early Saturday tweet.
Leaders throughout the metro area voiced their opinions Saturday on the controversy, including Georgia Republicans.

They’ll eventually realize Trump was elected because many voters tired of the fact that unassimilated minority communists who contributed nothing were steering this nation of ours. When those same Reds lash out, Trump voters feel vindication.

Voting is the very definition of a “civil right” and this semi-literate claimed mine was illegitimate. Icon my ass!
“An American Hero” who doesn’t understand the way that America works - that once one wins a majority of the electoral votes in an election he is the actual president and not “illegitimate” - I don’t think so......

But what has Congressman Lewis done lately? Sounds like not much.

Lewis is the descendant of Africans that were conquered and sold. They were inferior in enough ways they couldn’t prevent capture and being sold.
Now on the eve of their King’s day they do all sorts of stuff that stupidly reflects their inferior tribal heritage
You’re too generous; I’m done with this 8 year charade that there is anything remotely “American” about many of these people. Not because I disagree with them, mind you; I just don’t see any element of respect for (never mind knowledge of) the legal workings of this country, or anything at this point beyond demanding access to other peoples’ wages.
John Lewis is the kind of cultureless trash that Obama would refer to as “who we are”...enough said.
Sadly, MLK (for all his flaws) seemed to be much more “American” than those who spun an entire industry out of the legitimate grievances more than half a century ago.
Most of today’s “black leaders” have basically waved the white flag of surrender in terms of ever competing on equal terms with EVERY non-black population; at this point it is just about paying them off to let People That Matter go about their business (which includes providing everything for our black population).
The word Hero has little or no meaning anymore
Who made an ass of himself and should be called out for it.
It was the catalyst for destroying the White Democrat party, which had previously been 100% in control of the South.
