Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed pushed back Saturday on President-elect Donald Trump’s assessment of civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis’ district.
In a series of tweets, Reed said: “John Lewis is an American hero & a national treasure. Period. Full stop.
“That PEOTUS Trump would attack Congressman Lewis on MLK Day weekend for “all talk…no action” when he bled to actually “Make America Great” is why far less than half the country supports him at the dawn of his presidency.”
Trump said Lewis’s district was “in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested)” in an early Saturday tweet.
Leaders throughout the metro area voiced their opinions Saturday on the controversy, including Georgia Republicans.

A true American Hero would not have made disparaging remarks about the incoming president.
Just a little perspective about Lewis, Jackson and others. While they were marching and kind of putting their lives on the line, I was serving in Viet Nam with guys of the same color who were putting and actually did put their lives on the line. And some of them didn’t come back to walk in a march.
Once again, Trump speaks the truth and the left can’t handle it.
Post his accomplishments. Why is he special?

An American “hero”? Did he serve in the military during VN? If not, how did he avoid? I’d say he is a typical corrupt pol and racist. “Full stop”.
It’s a violent crime against a person, so I included it. Other crimes, burglary, arson, etc are excluded.

No. John Lewis is a liar. He’s a hack. He’s a functioning retard.

The gerrymandering is a result of an unholy alliance between mostly white Republicans and black Democrats. Each group gets what it wants: safe districts in perpetuity.
But the real “next Obama” is Ben Carson, that is if it’s skin color that is the deciding factor. Go Ben!!!
Well put; that’s really where we are now.
As this country becomes less “American” in general, the Asian and Hispanic replacements couldn’t care less what happened 50 years ago (when people believed in racial harmony). The decades since have shown it was a pipe-dream, and that assimilation for far too many blacks is simply impossible; once they were no longer expected to “act civilized”, many simply stopped trying and it all fell apart: families, education/job opportunities, morality - all gone.
In fact, it is hard to convince today’s young Americans (black or white) that those idealists from fifty years ago ever accomplished anything at all. Do you see any evidence that MLK ever even lived?
I guess “hero” is in the mind of the beholder. In my mind, Lewis is no hero, he’s a race obsessed loon.
