Donald Trump this week finally came around (kind of) to the intelligence community's conclusion that Russia engaged in hacking in an attempt to influence the 2016 U.S. election. But he remains dubious about its conclusion that the effort was intended to help him or that it did so.
And as it turns out, so do the vast majority of Republicans.
According to a new Quinnipiac University poll conducted, notably, before the Wednesday news conference at which Trump said he thought Russia did it 64 percent of Republicans disagreed that the Russian government interfered with the 2016 presidential election through hacking. Just 29 percent agreed.
Digging down deeper, of the 29 percent of Republicans who agreed that Russia tried, just 43 percent of them said it was intended to help Trump. A majority 51 percent disagreed.
So that's about 1 in 8 Republicans who believe the intelligence community's consensus conclusion that Russia hacked and that it specifically did so to help Trump in the 2016 election.

It’s telling that these liberal propaganda arms of the Democrats think letting the voters see what the Clinton team wrote in e-mails would help Trump.
It’s an admission that things the Clinton team did and said in secret would hurt them in the election.
Washington Post is still around?
WaPo has been in complete meltdown mode since Trump chastised them...Hilarious!
Why play this charade?
Why not just produce hard evidence or proof of Russian government involvement? Or are they afraid of what it will reveal? Are they afraid the Russians will produce some evidence of their own?
This “Russian Hacking” gambit was always targeted at the Republican base, to put a wedge between trump and the base.
The left and neocons (but I repeat myself) miscalculated. I regard the US left as a greater threat than Russia to US prosperity and freedom, and I don’t think I’m alone.
...and...
“Serious and VERIFIED” charges must always be ignored, unless they are made against a Republican.
MSM persuading citizens that there’s no longer any reason to suffer the MSM to live.
Hillary is crooked because of the Rooskies?
The devil made me do it excuse.
Uh .hasn’t it dawned on the Washington Compost that less than 1 in 10 conservatives believes anything any federal government agency tells us? We have been lied to hundreds, yea, thousands of times, and we are not stupid.
Why shouldn’t we doubt it ? I don;t need Trump to tell me that over the last 8 years Obama has purged and subverted virtually every Federal Gov agency , including all Intel agencies with the placement of people willing to support HIS agenda and he has exorcised out everyone that wasn’t on board . Military leadership included . Trump should trust their ‘products’ further than he can spit and the moment he gets in he should do a total purge of his own . Start over . Lot’s of good and talented VETS out there that need jobs and are highly qualified . Get rid of ALL of Obamas political minions . Every single one . No remainder
Sorry but Trump doesn’t think for me. I do my research and draw my own conclusions.
I don’t recall the MSM or democrats getting upset about Sarah Palin’s emails being hacked or Newt Gingrich’s phone calls being intercepted and recorded.
Besides, even if the Russians did this what is the real problem? the democrats don’t deny the content of the e-mails and that is their real problem; too many people now know exactly what the rats think of them.
you an keep your doctor
I didn’t have sex with that woman
the attack on the embassy was precipitated by a video
Obama et al are liars. they are not trust worthy
they are Ameritrash, each and everyone
“Hillary is crooked because of the Rooskies?”
Yes. I have it straight from a friend who is related to the second cousin of the uncle of Putin’s gym trainer, that the Russians used their well-known practice of Gloznomarsk to install a server in Hillary’s bathroom and then wire her brain to transmit security secrets by means of it.
