As concern grows in Europe about US President-elect Donald Trumps commitment to transatlantic cooperation, German Chancellor Angela Merkel pushed for the European Union to take more responsibility on the world stage during a speech on Thursday in Brussels.
From the point of view of some of our traditional partners and I am thinking here as well about the transatlantic relations there is no eternal guarantee for a close cooperation with us Europeans, Merkel told an audience in Brussels after receiving honorary doctorate degrees from Belgiums prestigious Leuven and Ghent universities. We should see this decision as an incentive to work together (for the goal), to hold Europe together now more than ever, to improve it further and to bring the citizens closer together again, she said.
The EU agreed to take first steps toward expanding security and defense cooperation at a summit in December.

Fine with me. Let Mother Europa go it on her own. History shows that she’s been SO FLIPPIN’ GOOD AT IT! *SNORT*
Close the borders. Screw the rest of the world. Every DAY I become more of an Isolationist.
Because this One World Order and Globalist BS has been WAY too expensive for We The People...and has returned to us, well, NOTHING!
Stop sending money OUT of America. Stop it. STOP IT!
*SPIT*
Merkel needs to go in next falls election!
Germany and no doubt other EU countries are being destroyed from within by the invading Muslim hordes. And now she thinks she’s being abandoned by the US? I can’t think of a leader in recent history who has done more to destroy her own country than Angela Merkel.
The Eurotrash got a free ride on their national security for decades. Now they choose to possibly go it on their own with the Russian wolf at their door?I wish them luck.
This is the 4th Reich and this woman is one of those at the head.
They failed to mention this little bit before the Brexit vote. After, it came to light and no doubt if that vote was held today, they would vote to exit by a vast majority.
You always ‘get’ me, Farmer Dean. ;)
I can - Obunghole
If Merkel isn’t kicked to the curb, Germany, then ALL of Europe is lost to the Barbarians.
And, um, NOT for the FIRST time! They just do NOT get it! WTF are their citizens DOING all day that they can’t pay attention and SEE this?
Secondly, LOVE you tag line. :)
Merkel, you go girl!
what the *** is that? Germany is done
And just what are they holding over us that we should cower down? They owe their backsides to us over the last hundred years along with a fortune in cash still unpaid from WW I and II. And if you add the military equipment we have sold them over the last 20 years, it gets really expensive. And there doesn’t appear to be a revolving account, just past due.

Hey, Angela, you are the last person who should be talking about holding Europe together.
And I suspect your Mussolini moment is just around the corner, honey.
Doesn’t look like either of those are of Germany. Police vehicles over there say “Polizei”.
Ha..... she is between a rock and a political hardplace
Save the country and have people saying Trump made her do it
or
Lose the country to the invaders and lose
boy you really pay attention. Now I know who to turn to for questions :)
“...there is no eternal guarantee for a close cooperation with us Europeans, Merkel told an audience in Brusselsj...”
Will they manage the upkeep of all those graves of Americans who died while liberating their asses? But the most appreciative generation of Europeans have almost passed on.
There is no eternal guarantee for a close cooperation with us Americans.
Did Hitler say this same exact phrase sometime in the past? Just wondering....
There’s no eternal guarantees of anything when it comes to nations.
10 years after the French helped free us from Britain we were at war with them.
I doubt many Eurupean nations are eager for any ‘eternal guarantees’ that Germany would offer them.
Or guarantees of any scope, if/when offered. The only thing on offer right now is more centralization and less freedom.
