The Obama administration is ending the "wet foot, dry foot" policy that granted residency to Cubans who arrived in the United States without visas.
That's according to a senior administration official, who said the policy change was effective immediately.

Actually, while still useful and impressive in scope, the Smithsonian has for over a century been a significant left leaning and left lead organization.
It has attempted many times to inculcate false narratives to influence academia, society, and politics in the US and West in general, toward the left.
While not impossible for German efforts against the US to have been attempted through the use of Jews leaving Germany and other points of origin during WWII, because of the strong anti-Jewish elements within our own press, society, and government at the time, the Jewish voting population within the US petitioned our government to stop the flow of Jews fleeing Europe in an attempt to squelch the growing voice of the same anti-Jewish outlets and voices they feared.
Boat loads of Jews were turned back from several harbors.
While unbelievably sad, out of fear of growing hatred and for their own livelihood, Jews in the US were willing to place pressure on our own government to keep Jews who were fleeing persecution and annihilation from entering the US.
While the Smithsonian explanation is still possible in part, Germany did not need Jews to achieve German efforts in the US, as we had numerous American born Germans/Europeans who spied for, fought for, or attempted to carry out German efforts at various levels in US government, as well as against US infrastructure.
As much as I want to show mercy to those fleeing the Castro regime it seems that the policy is both an insult to people from other islands (like Haiti) that are fleeing utter poverty and/or banana republic dictators, as well as a cowardly ‘solution’ to abandoning the Cuban people at the Bay of Pigs. I think it’s time to scrap it.
Even Rubio has called, IIRC, for a NO WELFARE rule for refugees. That could’ve been adopted a long time ago.

This cuban policy has been in affect for decades.
But it does not matter, Mexico has a no VISA requirement for Cubans. They can come to Mexico and come in through our Southern Border as can the Chinese.

I had the opportunity to work with and know as friends many Cubans down in south Florida off and on for years. They are a truly unique people. Hell, I even married one.
They work their butts off, don’t complain, treat people very nice, and are almost 100% Christian. They love freedom, and turn into the biggest pro-America patriots. They value education, assimilate as fast as they can, and are not all about saving their culture, like you see from Puerto Ricans, and Mexicans, and other hyphenated tribes-of-the-perpetually-aggrieved.
They vote republican, hate communists, and love America. Only other ethnic group I can compare them too is maybe the Polish in their attitude.
I truly hope Trump immediately reverses this vindictive obama turd in the punchbowl.

I know it is a rhetorical question... but Ill answer anyway. It is because the obongo administration views immigration as a democrat party voter drive. The majority of Mexicans vote democrat so we open the borders. The majority of cubans voted Trump so that door is now closed.

I would also like to see persons from countries which allow them to become citizens of both U.S. and their country of origin denied citizenship application and retained only on visa status. I would also like to see a limit on visas and the number of renewals.

Throwing around demeaning statements is not appreciated by myself or others who either disagree with your perceptions or have somehow confused you into insult.
That would be an excellent example, except that was West Germany, who considered East Germans citizens rather than the US. When it comes to immigration, or even refugees, we don't have a great record of distinguishing friends from enemies. As the Obama administration demonstrates both by this policy and their preference for muslim refugees from Syria and Iraq rather than Christians, who ISIS is slaughtering for their faith.

I’m referring to your “as well” in post 6 in response to Obama changing policy on Cuban refugees.
Saying “as well” indicates you agree with Obama’s policy change.

this bunch loves dictators. there’s no other conclusion that explains what this administrations has done since day one, when they failed to support the democratic uprising in Iran.
