Trump, Hill GOP fret about fallout from repealing Obamacare so quickly

After years of promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act, a growing number of Republicans are balking at the prospect of doing so quickly without a firm plan to replace it.

As the Senate begins voting Wednesday on a path to eliminate the landmark health-care bill, some Republicans are worried about the political fallout and uncertainty of starting to roll back Obamacare without knowing how the process will end.

They have 3 Replacements.

And a whole lot of disorganized suggestions as well. But there will be only one replacement. Which one of the multiple proposals will it be? And why does there have to be a replacement at all?

And I watched a clip from Ryan's news conference on the repeal, and some Congresswoman said that under their plan people would be able to keep their health insurance if they liked it. I'll predict right now that is the "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" quote of the Republican replacement.

yea I agree, what is there to be afraid of, changes need to be made or the country would collapse, man is so political that the end game is forgotten, the end game is to have a constitution and a country with law and order, achieving these things are the goal not holding power. If the ball is in your court run hard, pass all through congress and it will be difficult to change later..

Did their 9.7 trillion dollar “vehicle to repeal” it pass? I would be interested to know what is costing so much. Sounds like typical bailouts to me. Trump was clear in 60 minute interview.. everyone will be covered. At first he talks about competitive plans and finally said he will make deals with hospitals ad.. when really pressed, he admitted the government would pay for the bottom 25%. 9.7 trillion dollars... that’s a lot of dealing.

It pains me to agree with the Wapo. I hate Obamacare just as I hate socialized medicine. I detest our health insurance system.

If Obamacare is immediately repealed without a replacement, a lot of people with serious illnesses will see their health insurance revoked. That is gonna give the Rats a treasure trove of propaganda to parade in front of us nightly in the MSM.

Furthermore, any replacement bill for Obamacare had better be well thought out & actually improves our healthcare system. Otherwise, Congress will be seen replacing bad law with more bad law.

I understand that Pubs had no hand in creating/passing Obamacare, but remember, Congress has passed a lot of bad bills with Pub support. There is no guarantee that any new bills passed will improve the system, & a real possibility that the new system will be chock full of flaws, causing death & chaos.

I am not at all sure the likes of McConnell/Ryan can produce anything better than did Reid/Pelosi.

I believe it would be far wiser to repeal certain portions of Obamacare as a START, such as the tax penalty mandate, while CAREFULLY crafting a high quality replacement for Obamacare.

Racing to replace a leaky drain plug with another different, but leaky plug will still sink the boat. Further, the new repairman looks just as incompetent as the old one. Republicans are risking the mandate they got from the people if they screw this up, & Congress has a long history of doing just that.

If Pubs can get this right in the minds of the people they can dominate government for decades, but if they pass a bill chock full of hubris, pork, & special interest payoffs, they wont hold Congress for very long.

I believe the Federal government screws up most of what it touches. In an ideal country the Federal gov. would have little involvement with health care & no ability to manipulate it through legislation. Same for Education & a slew of other areas where Congress & the Feds have exceeded Constitutional authority.

So the idea that Republicans are gonna immediately repeal Obamacare & replace it with something BETTER is a long shot for success, given current Congressional leadership. Wiser still would be to repeal/replace some of the most unpopular parts of Obamacare, thereby gaining the confidence & support of the people who elected them.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. If you try to cram the whole thing in your mouth you will choke.

Last year the Republicans passed and sent to Obama a bill that ended the individual mandate and eliminated funds for the consumer subsidies and Medicaid expansion. As an added treat it also cut off all funding for Planned Parenthood. Obama vetoed it, of course, but there still has to be a copy of it floating around the Hill somewhere. Dust it off, pass it again, send it to President Trump for his signature, and problem is solved. Obamacare is, for all practical purposes, dead. Campaign promise is kept. Move on from there.

The O/care abomination will fall like a flimsy house of card....all Trump has to do is get Sessions to make some inquiries.

==========================================

ITEM----How $4.3 billion tax dollars to then-Sen Mary Landrieu (Dem-LA) was attached to the Obamacare bill, and how Obama and Harry Reid failed to catch and fix it, is yet another indictment of the Obamacare atrocity.

The payoff to Landrieu should be investigated as an indication of how EVERY Democrat came to vote for Obamacare.

BACKSTORY In the fall of 2009, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was trying to get the necessary 60 Dimocrat votes to pass the Affordable Care Act. Reid needed every Dim on board, which gave waffling senators a great deal of leverage.

In Landrieu's case, she connivingly saw that selling her aye vote could get her maybe $200 million federal dollars. Obama complied--- Reid chalked up another vote for Obamacare---but $4.3 went to Landrieu not the $200,000 she had bargained for.

<><> Was Mary the baglady for buying the Democratic straight party-line votes? <><>

THE LANDRIEU PAPER TRAIL IS HUGE Landrieu sold her aye vote for a "price." Landrieu was bought off in what Forbes Magazine dubbed "The 'Louisiana Purchase" that included a massive $4.3 Billion to Landrieu.

FORBES REPORTED the Democrats’ nailed Landrieu’s support for Obamacare w/ a greenback bribe. Landrieu, critics believe, pledged her vote in exchange for some $200 million more additional federal funds for Louisiana. Except that, due to a drafting error, the law ended up giving Louisiana $4.3 billion: more than twenty times the assigned amount.

=================================================== ===================================================

ITEM----Obamacare was developed as a a vehicle for consolidating Dummycrat power.....w/ a multi-billion dollar slush fund. The Untraceable $8 Billion ObamaCare PR Budget---truly govt fraud at its finest.

Egged on by Pelosi, no one in Congress told Americans about Section 4002---which mandates an $8B untraceable fund to "promote" Obamacare (apparently b/c Boobamba had so little confidence in his signature legislation).

In 2010 Taxpayers are extorted $500 million, in 2011, $750 million, 2012, $1 billion, 2013, $1.25 billion, 2014, $1.5 billion and in 2015 and on, $2 billion........

....the reasons for all those O/Care delays, fixits, exemptions, waivers, extensions, etc, are becoming crystal clear.

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN--- REQUEST DETAILED TAX OUTLAYS TO SUPPORT THE OCARE PR PROGRAM All tax allocations are explicitly detailed in the Congressional Record as to their use and limitations, etc.

I like your “one-bite-at-time” plan.

1. Repeal the penalties for NOT buying Obamacare insurance. Healthy folks will then be free to buy the health insurance they actually want at a much lower cost from the multi-state market.

2. Authorize tax-deductible Health Savings Accounts that are NOT “spend-it-or-lose-it” plans for routine medical expenses like check-ups and shots.

IMHO, these changes will cause mass defections from Obamacare.

3. Transfer those remaining Obamacare patients with serious health problems to Medicaid.

4. Refer any remaining Obamacare patients to “vetted” private insurance companies. The patients can then choose the insurer they like an. They can also choose the features they like — such as coverage for dependents until they reach 25, at the level of coverage they are wiling to pay for.

Yep. Medicaid is probably the best way to provide medical care to seriously ill people.

I’d like to see health insurance sold like car insurance, by any insurance company regardless of state, to any willing customer in any state. This ends the virtual insurance monopolies in most states.

Prices will come down & tailored policies will become the norm.
