Setting up more conflict with the Republican-led legislature, new North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper on Wednesday announced plans to expand Medicaid through the federal health care overhaul, even though a state law specially prevents such unilateral action.
Cooper, the attorney general for the past 16 years before narrowly beating GOP Gov. Pat McCrory in November, announced at a New-Year economic forum that he plans to file paperwork with federal regulators by Friday.
Coopers action comes in the waning days of the administration of President Barack Obama, who championed the 2010 health care law and wants to protect his legacy, and as President-elect Donald Trump and Republican congressional leaders pledge to repeal it.

I still don’t know why so many people in NC voted for a tricking leftist for governor. Thank God we still have supermajority in the legislature.
Simple. They didn’t. It was stolen by fraud.
follow the sucker closely.... genetic tendency towards crime.
Isn’t this grounds for impeachment?
The program won’t even exist when his ‘applicaion’ reaches consideration!
What a meaningless stunt. The media has their work cut out for them to make a narrative out of this. They’ll give it their best.
“It was stolen by fraud.”
Exactly. Impeach the SOB rat traitor governor every week until he melts into a pile of mush.
So, the state's top law enforcement official refuses to enforce or even obey state law. Sounds like impeachment time to me.
Looks like it is going to SNOW on Cooper’s parade Saturday! hoho
[ he is having another swearing in Saturday, planned for outside — except the weather decides to have a snow storm! haha ]
Wouldn’t deal with HB2 or defend the vote against same sex marriage. He did nothing to protect homeowners from out of control associations. He was a useless AG. He is governor only because Durham sent 94,000 votes after 11PM on election day.
