Incoming Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says he regrets a 2013 decision by Senate Democrats, known as the nuclear option to decrease the number of senators needed to confirm Cabinet picks from 60 to 51 votes.
I wish it hadnt happened, Schumer said in an interview with CNN, about the move that was triggered by former Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
The move is dubbed the nuclear option because by altering the filibuster rules it stands to blow up bipartisan Senate relations.
I argued against it at the time, Schumer said. I said both for Supreme Court and in Cabinet should be 60, because on such important positions there should be some degree of bipartisanship. I won on Supreme Court, lost on Cabinet. But, thats what we have to live with now.
Republicans hold a 52-48 majority in the new Senate which means they already have the number needed to confirm Trumps nominees without the Democrats. However, the Democrats have still vowed to fight against the picks. Schumer and his fellow Democratic senators will aggressively target eight of President-elect Donald Trumps Cabinet picks, which he refers to as rigged.
If Republicans think they can quickly jam through a whole slate of nominees without a fair hearing process, theyre sorely mistaken, Schumer said recently...

#9 should be CARL Levin of Michigan, not Mark Levin!
Let me get this clear:
First the Dummies wanted to abolish the electoral college, even though they have won elections that way. Now they want to do away with the nuclear option because suddenly it doesn’t suit their needs.
So: when it works for THEM, it’s OK. When it works for us, it’s all wrong and must be fixed.
Now I got it.
Schumer is as disgusting bottom feeder as Harry Reid was. I pray a prayer based on Psalms in the Book of Psalms, that God, not humans, will make him as an abortion, and that God will not show grace to our enemies.
Correction it was “Embrace the Suck” and was told to the Republicans and Democrats alike. Click link below for the article.

There's that slippery, one-way "B" word again.
No backsies, you hypocritical double-dealing jerk.
If the filibuster rule was changed in order to pass Obamacare, then Obama can claim it as his legacy.
At any rate, here’s to filibuster rules at our disposal. There is a lot of fixing to do in every respect and we need every tool we can get - hopefully Chuck will drop the delusion and pick up the teeny violin.
He finally remembers and regrets.
Elections have consequences!
Now, sit down and STFU! You lost!
Feel the suck schmuck I mean Chuck.
Actually, the nuclear option is just the return to regular order. The present need for 60 votes to pass anything is not a filibuster but an unconstitutional super majority. With a true filibuster the senator needed to control the floor by continuing talking. All other business stopped. It was difficult to maintain and was thus only rarely used. The present misnamed filibuster, in which other business can continue, has made it too easy, thus now requiring 60 votes on practically everything. It is time to get rid of it.
Live by the sword, die by the sword. Timeless...
All started with giving women the vote.
Next thing you know Senators are picked by popular vote and the IRS is helping themselves to a piece of every business and individuals income, from whatever source.
Not to mention FDR, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, and Hussein Obama.
Worst thing to happen to the Republic since Lincoln.
Correct on all counts.
BULLCRAP!!! You only had a problem with it the day after Hillary lost.
It should be noted that Mark Levin pressured Republcians to reverse it in 2014. Good thing no one listens to him.
A President is entitled to choose his own cabinet. Why does it even need Senate approval?
People are forgetting about the 10 democrat senators up for reelection in red states in 2018. The Republicans can put quite a bit of pressure on them and make them dance a bit.
Cat’s out of the bag, Schmuckie Chuckie. If the Democrats filibuster Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, the Republicans will likely abolish the filibuster regarding SCOTUS nominees.
