In addition, conservatives would be stirred up against the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary in ways that would energize reform efforts at the expense of the Left. In effect, conservatives would conclude that the federal courts must be diminished because the Left was willing to bend and break norms and rules to prevent conservatives from exercising the political authority over the federal courts even when the public conferred it on them.
I don’t believe it will happen either, if it was going to happen it would have by now...thought it was just some of what Barky would think about...

I was wondering the same thing.Several points to consider:
1) Assuming that he,like Obola himself,is a filthy Maoist he might go along with it just as a big "FU" to The Most Dangerous Man To Have Ever Drawn Breath.
2) Depending on how such things are calculated he might get a bigger retirement check having served for even a short period on SCOTUS than by continuing with his current gig.Depending on his age he might find that tempting.
3) There's the obvious prestige in having served on SCOTUS for *any* length of time.Many might find *that* tempting.
Two points:
1) He would appoint someone much more liberal than Garland.
2) The senate could then nuke the filibuster for SCOTUS and install a much more conservative judge permanently.

All this will do is put an asterisk next to garland’s name and further stain obama, as it will not be a permanent appointment. So go for it, Mandingo. We’re all laughing at you.
Why are people so focused on GARLAND. He would never allow his name to be put up this way and lose his lifetime position. But Obama COULD name someone ELSE...and VERY likely will.
