Anthony Bourdain on Trump win: People were sick of 'privileged' liberals
The Hill ^ | December 31, 2016 | By Brooke Seipel

Television and culinary personality Anthony Bourdain says in a new interview that fellow "privileged Eastern liberals" are the reason that Donald Trump was elected.

"The utter contempt with which privileged Eastern liberals such as myself discuss red-state, gun-country, working-class America as ridiculous and morons and rubes is largely responsible for the upswell of rage and contempt and desire to pull down the temple that we’re seeing now," Bourdain told Reason.

Bourdain attributed the large divide during this political season and Trump's win last month on a division between "Eastern liberals" and red-state Americans.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in gun-country, God-fearing America,” he continued. “There are a hell of a lot of nice people out there, who are doing what everyone else in this world is trying to do: the best they can to get by, and take care of themselves and the people they love."

"When we deny them their basic humanity and legitimacy of their views, however different they may be than ours, when we mock them at every turn, and treat them with contempt, we do no one any good.”

Bourdain also criticized HBO political talk show host Bill Maher as "the worst of the smug, self-congratulatory left. . ."

The pendulum had swung very left, and so now it’s starting to swing back to the right. It’s happening in other countries as well. This swinging from liberal to conservative has happened several times throughout history. After one side has a large foothold, a counter-culture begins on the other side, and the pendulum slowly begins swinging back to the other side.

Chris Matthews was also pretty on target:

Chris Matthews utterly destroys Rachel Maddow on Hillary Clinton

He even said the mostly same thing early on, long before Trump was even nominated.

Welcome to the "Red State Rebellion" ( as I call it ) Anthony B.

As I call it the ( insert state name ) superiority complex. I get it, I came from one of those states. It wasn't until I moved to the sensible Mid-West did I get it or see it. A youngin' I know as going "back east" and was to be shown around with someone that thinks they are all it. I warned them of their outlook on life, and the came back and said "Oh ya Taildragger, they think they are all the *hit.

Bourdain may be a lot of things to FR-er's but as someone that has been on both sides of this fence, he nailed it...

I think given a year or two, Bourdain may come around on Trump, right now, he’s more worried about what his pals on the Left would think of him.

I read his delightful first book KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL... Seems as if he really is an open-minded fellow who lives an ‘examined’ life. Bravo!

He mispronounced "arrogant, sanctimonious, uneducated, ridiculous liberals."

“We should be breaking bread with each other, and finding common ground whenever possible. ...

“Absolutely f-—ing not,” he replied on the question of dining with the president-elect.”

No contradiction there!

Contempt, yes. Rage, no. This election was served cold.

Yep, because they are superior to everyone else and that ANYTHING is justified towards achieving their version of utopia.

Their NOT GETTING it!
They will NEVER GET it!
They have no interest in GETTING IT!

They are individually covering their asses; they have finally become aware that there may be consequences for their actions, thoughts, and repressions for the last 70 years.
NEVER TRUST a Lib/Prog/Stalinist/Communist/Transnational Socialist/Democrat; they all have damaged minds and are incapable of understanding freedom, liberty, and a desire to be responsible for one’s own life and actions.
They all truly believe that they know better than all of us plebeians and should always be in a superior position to tell us all how to live, what to think, and whether or not we should all just die at their whim.
Or serve them as they see fit

But you can go to one of his pay-thru-the-nose lectures and get temple-worshipping libtardism from him in spades.

Sure he's punch-down 'nice' to people in the field, otherwise - no show.

The Louisiana cookout "Cajun Country" show has a memorable scene where he dispatches the pig they are about to cook; the locals named the pig "Antony Boudin".

The "Tuscany" episode might be the peak of travelogue tv, overcoming what little talent the man has - but credit even that accomplishment to his long-suffering crew and the lovably batsh!t-crazy Tuscans.

Of course, that was all before he moved to CNN, which required a motorcycle, a large water tank, and a couple of sharks...also dumping a devoted wife (the same year as "Tuscany") along the way for an English-mangling Sardinian girl...who he also divorced about two months ago. No joke.

Yeah, Bourdain is a real pip.

I loved it when he visited Nugent, and ended his segment rocking and rolling on Ted’s M60.

The only thing Bourdain gets is breakfast....

A pot of coffee and half a pack of cigarettes.

"We know him well here. We’ve watched how he does business and we’ve watched him say things and then we’ve seen whether or not he did those things, we have seen how he treats the people he does business with. I would give the same answer that I would have given 10 years ago, when he was just as loathsome,” he added."

Bourdain is projecting here, yugely...

A bit late for a mea culpa.

This guy is a skunk, a rat, a swamp-denizen who went on a vicious rant when Trump was elected. Probably trying to shore up his TV audience to stem their anger with him.

I’ve been looking for a thread where I can put this hoping that someone will start a thread on it so it will get around. Best deconstruction of Millenials I’ve seen. It’s been too long since I posted anything I’ve forgotten how.

I’m glad that Mr. Bourdain used the word “privileged.” This is because the Founding States had expressly prohibited both the feds and the states from establishing protected / privileged classes which is what liberals were doing to win votes imo.
