3,000 years ago, it ruled the Mideast, now blown to pieces

The chilly December wind whipped rain across the strewn wreckage of a city that, nearly 3,000 years ago, ruled almost the entire Middle East. Rivulets of water ran through the dirt, washing away chunks of ancient stone.

The city of Nimrud in northern Iraq is in pieces, victim of the Islamic State group's fervor to erase history. The remains of its palaces and temples, once lined in brilliant reliefs of gods and kings, have been blown up. The statues of winged bulls that once guarded the site are hacked to bits. Its towering ziggurat, or step pyramid, has been bulldozed.

muslims would destroy all of history but for that of the pedophiliac buggery, thievery and mass murder of their honcho.

lol, yup- that probably went over about as well as a fart at a pot luck dinner- but it’s true- that’s precisely what happened- The middle east went from being a cultural powerhouse to nothing really- muhammad didn’t want his followers to be educated or cultured- He burned the books as a message that his followers were to be blindly loyal to him and noone else- Sad really- why liberals would defend this barbarity is beyond me- a muslim woman was murdered- beheaded- just the other day for, get htis, the horrible crime of ‘shopping without her husband present’ in Afghanistan - And Liberals defend this? And want ot import this into our country?

The way ISIS has destroyed those historical sites appears to be the same agenda that odumbo has prescribed for America, his recent actions show he is trying to carryout his plans of destruction.

Because liberals hate God (the real one).

They hate God more than anything. They don't want to be accountable to Him, they don't want to be reminded of their sins, they don't want to contemplate that they are going to Hell, and they don't want anyone else to give praise to God.

The liberals always act like they cherish culture but they end up just destroying it forever.

This is why we know so little about the ancient past.

Every megalomaniac crackpot that comes down the street wants to erase evidence of the previous megalomaniac.

It highlights why the Bible is such a priceless gift.

Yes, they do hate God more then anything which is why the muslims were called infidels by the Catholic Church and Cruzaders. Infidel is a roman word not an arabic word.

What was once built can be re-built—bigger and better. Nimrod can be restored and made into the show place it was when Sargon II ruled here. The original Hanging Gardens once stood here and may well again. It can be restored as will Babylon! The Fire God of Zoroaster will be worshiped again! One day people will flock here and the memories of ISIS (Dash) will be a forgotten blot upon the 3,000 year history of this place.

Hmmm. Like removing confederate statues all over the place and changing school names so as not mention any confederate generals? That kind of erasing history?

Radical political Islam is actively destroying about 1/4 of the Earth. They are killing and beheading Christians and others. Seems like maybe we are down to 5th seal.

The 4 horses of the Apocalyse: Red, White, Black, and Pale(the ancient word for pale can also mean green). Isn’t it interesting that all the flags of these countries are Red, White, Black, and Green?

That was what I thought of when I saw this article. I know people will say it is not the same, but it really is.

If you really want to send a liberal into a frothing hissy fit, point out that the first Roman Catholic and the first Jew who served in an American cabinet was under the Confederate States of America.

Who can name them?

"Islam is a pox"

A rhetorical question: which is more dangerous: atheism or Islam?

Just point out this, and Palmyra, and the Bamiyan Buddhas whenever some loser lib starts talking about how the west looted treasures that should be returned to their homelands.

“”That is a SICKENING photo!””

It most certainly is. These are people who have never and will never produce anything meaningful to the world. They only know to destroy. A statement in an article I recently read said their sole motivation in life is to get up in the morning to kill people who don’t see things as they do. I believe it was in the long articles online about Turkey and what they did to Armenians. There isn’t any good reason to allow these people to continue to live.

What would the world look like today if we hadn’t gone into Iraq in 2003? I can’t help but wonder.

Will future years find the uncovering of what were at one time memorials in Washington, DC and elsewhere in the civilized world and look to the history books for the explanations? There won’t be any internet to answer their questions for them. If that is to come to pass, they will already have their answer as they will be the ones responsible for destroying all that was good in the world.
