The dead are disproportionately Alaska Natives, police and homelessness advocates say, who make up 20% of the general population but constitute half of the clients in shelters.
Well that has to change and fast! Force other races from their homes so we can have equal outcomes.

She doesn't have the money NOW? but what about THEN? or WHEN she last had it?
Been to Alaska a few times but never at street level, I was always hunting or fishing. Our Inuit guides would tell me about the alcohol problems within the towns and the family members lost. Most of the villages have banned all alcohol but it still gets bootlegged in. They fear for their children when they leave the village and move to town where it’s a war zone of alcohol. I’ve seen the same thing on reservations in Mew Mexico, Oklahoma and Arizona. My sister in-law is 100% Choctaw out of Oklahoma and her stories of alcoholism on the reservation is down right scary. She left as soon as she could, joined the Navy and later became an RN.
They are out to soon with the “Homeless” stories. I can picture it now:
January 21, 2017
“Homeless freeze as Trump and Republicans party”
>Bodies also appear in the spring, as the snow recedes, often surrounded by plastic bottles once filled with alcohol or mouthwash.
It’s all legal too. Listening to those who always know better, one would think the bodies would be found with a half smoked joint and a slice of pizza instead.
Likker kills. Refer Madness is still a comedy.
8 years with no homelessness! And now .... it’s back!
They’re back! Just in time for the end of Obama and the beginning of Trump.
Bush’s fault.
Addiction is a horrible disease.
Rehab works only if the person wants to change. I am ok with the state getting involved with rehab efforts in those cases.
If the person doesn’t want to get rehab, then they are probably going to end up dead.
You cannot force people to “want” anything.
Alaska Ping!
My sister and brother-in-law once took a vacation to Finland and were astonished at the amount of alcohol shoppers had in their shopping carts. Evidently alcoholism is quite a problem there too.......
So this just started happening? Maybe Oblahblah can write a last minute EO to help them out?
I knew the homeless stories would be back under a non-demoncrat administration.
These chuckle heads are pathetically predictable.
Gee, we never had this problem when Obama was president. Notice how social problems become so much worse whenever we elect a Republican?
Trump’s fault.
I know it sounds cruel to say this but dying passed out in the cold is probably the best thing for them. Instead of a lifetime of bumming off family members, strangers and welfare offices, they perform the one useful act they can by eliminating themselves from the gene pool and the resource pool.
May God have mercy on them but it is the life many of them chose for themselves.
Obama had eight years to do something about this. All he did was rename Mount McKinley.
No sympathy-
It’s a weakness of character.
Control/Stop if you want, die if don’t. Choose.
And don’t tell me “It’s an addiction they can’t choose!”.
One of many of the good lord’s tools for cleansing this earth.
Just wait til Constitutional Carry is functioning law in all “57” states.
It will be “wild west” for a time, until the last of the wothless d-bags have drawn down on the wrong folks.
Btw- I speculated that the plague of homelessness would suddenly appear across the U.S. ... funny how they stayed hidden for these past ~8 years
It can be very, very cold up there in parts of Alaska. Most people in the mainland do not know real bitter cold. I’m talking cold where if you even sweat, you freeze to death because the perspiration inside your clothing freezes. If you urinate, it is so cold that the urine freezes before it hits the ground. Now that’s cold! If you have a sleeping bag, you have to slowly worm your body into it so that you can thaw it out with your body heat - hopefully not freezing to death before you are able to warm the space inside the sleeping bag.
