Captain Or Ben-Yehuda of the Israeli Defense Forces has cemented a legacy that will endure well past her lifetime. The young, decorated IDF Captain was in charge of a company of soldiers when they were violently attacked by nearly two dozen terrorists near the Egyptian border.
Due to her leadership and bravery, she and her men were able to survive. Captain Ben-Yehuda was in charge of the Caracal Battalion which was stationed near the Israeli / Egyptian border. Three suspicious vehicles quickly approached the battalions position and Captain Ben-Yehuda along with a driver went to check them out.
As they approached the first vehicle, nearly two dozen armed men opened fire on their position in an ambush attack. Both Captain Ben-Yehuda and her driver were immediately shot in the volley of gunfire.
Despite suffering from a gunshot wound, Captain Ben-Yehuda managed to get on the radio and call for backup, administer first aid to her driver and return several magazines worth of gunfire back at her attackers.
Backup, in the form of several vehicles full of IDF soldiers, arrived on scene, the wounded Captain commanded the responding soldiers and positioned her men to effectively fight back the terrorists.
At this point it was obvious the IDF was going to be able to push back the armed group, and medical personnel wanted to evacuate Captain Ben-Yehuda to treat her gunshot wounds. However, she was unwilling to leave the battlefield until all of the fighting was done.
For her actions and bravery, Captain Ben-Yehuda was awarded Israels highest honor, the Medal of Valor.

They have walls, fences, and geological formations including the Red Sea on the border with Egypt/Sinai. Not sure how these vehicles got across the border, or maybe they were commandeered or staged for the infiltrators to use after sneaking in. The infiltrators could have come from a tunnel under the fences, swam or sailed to a beachhead, or come in legally and then assembled for an attack.
I’m curious, just from watching movies, it seems unusual for the patrol troops to get out of the vehicle to inspect a suspicious caravan. In the movies, soldiers generally keep cover inside their APC and order the suspects to exit their vehicles first. They would only exit the vehicles after the terrorists opened fire, or once they had the suspects covered. (though it doesn’t exactly say the terrorists came from the caravan, they may have been lying in wait for the IDF patrol to arrive using the caravan as a distraction).
You are making a very good point.
No word on how many ghouls they were able to kill.
“Rate of fire - 750950 rounds min[1]”
Nice.
Great article!
Considering what we’ve seen on this thread of American women, would YOU recommend deploying them in combat?
The difference between the US military’s promotion of women into comabt roles and the IDF’s is that the latter trains their female soldiers right beside the men, with no lowered expectations or accommodations.
Thanks for providing some balance to this article.
I admire the hell out of what this young lady apparently did but as always with all media stories get stretched to the breaking point and particularly those that glorify women.
These type of stories make it hard for this old guy to type a reply with eyes leaking like this.
God bless this brave woman.
Men don’t make passes at girls that wear glasses and wish they had pearls to clutch
In his note for this verse in “The Pentateuch and Haftorahs”, editor Rabbi JH Hertz writes that, “An interchange of attire between man and woman would promote immodesty and, in consequence, immorality. This law is probably directed against rites in Syrian heathenism, which included exchange of garments by the sexes and led to gross impurities.”
He speaks here of transgenderism, which is serious sin.
Personally, I have very little problem identifying women from men. Of course, I’ve been married for 42 years and therein lies some difference.
Very good compare & contrast.
The Israeli, after being shot, still finds a way to keep her countrymen alive. The Americans, spoiled rotten, cry and whine and call themselves victims.
...........
Agree that the US universities & democrats produce a lot of embarrassing snowflakes. However, the US military produces the best soldiers in the world.
Tavor IDF issue “Bulpup” 5.56mm
“Sorry but the article is long on hype and short on facts. Trust me effectiveness depends a lot on where you got shot.”
I have some questions about this incident. The headline says “This Female IDF Soldier Fights Off 23 Terrorists in Ambush Attack After Being Shot”. It makes it sound like she was alone and defeated 23 terrorists. This clearly isnt true. She commanded a BATTALION and the attack occurred near the Battalion’s position. She also went to investigate the approaching vehicles with a number of other soldiers. She and others were wounded and she called in for reinforcements (who were apparently close by). How is this different than what the average male soldier would do? How does this earn a Medal of Valor?
Exactly. I sent an email to a friend who is IDF. Will see what they have to say. I most likely will get a “no comment” response.
I have to agree. When I read this part I started to suspect a little pepper on the story:
“and return several magazines worth of gunfire back at her attackers”
No one ever successfully reloads a Tavor under fire. /s
Worst reload ever!
Yes. I should have looked closer. Two different tools.
The IDF has suffered because of women in combat and it will continue to suffer. It’s compounded folly.
