Pasco SO investigating 'potential terrorist' in New Port Richey

NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office, along with the FBI, ATF, and Homeland Security are investigating a "potential terrorist" after deputies were called to the home of a concerned mother.

My Uncle used to live in New Port Richey. He moved this past summer to Las Vegas. If he sees this story, he’ll be happy he moved.

He is hospitalized after attacking 2 deputies and trying to take their sidearm. One deputy has a broken hand and another has a head injury. I think his aggravated assault on a LEO charge will result in his incarceration after he is released from the hospital so there is plenty of time to get the search warrant to legally obtain evidence.

This is one area where I support zero tolerance. You want to play the fool on a flight when they are trying to take off, then that’s a felony. I hope the DA will nail him on his attack on the cops. I would do attempted murder on grabbing for the weapons. Let his attorney work it down if he can.

Found his facebook, has a couple public photos that are old and could easily be Egyptian.

His full name is Sherif Mahmoud Elganainy. He was arrested three years ago in Osceola County for drug possession and resisting arrest. Got a web of trust warning for some reason before entering site.

Fox13 just reported the search of his home just finished, no comment from Sheriff Nocco on what evidence they collected.
