Gingrich: Trump doesn't want to 'drain the swamp' anymore
The Hill ^ | December 21, 2016 | Paulina Firozi

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said in a new interview that Donald Trump has taken a different tone as president-elect and may be leaving behind his campaign promise to “drain the swamp.”

Gingrich told NPR's "Morning Edition" that he was told Trump “now says [the phrase] was cute, but he doesn’t want to use it anymore.”

Gingrich, who has been a close adviser to Trump, said he likes "drain the swamp" because it “vividly illustrates the problem, because all people in this city who are the alligators are going to hate the swamp being drained.”

“But, you know, he is my leader, and if he decides to drop the swamp and the alligator I will drop the swamp and the alligator,” he said.

Gingrich also said he’d noticed Trump’s change in attitude toward his supporters chanting “lock her up” at his post-election rallies, referring to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Maybe he feels that, as president, as the next president of the United States, that he should be marginally more dignified than talking about alligators in swamps,” Gingrich said.

Newt did this at the behest of Trumps people. Its so obvious if one has been studying and paying attention to Trumps books and the campaign operations from the election, and I mean Sooooooooo obvious.

>>I don’t think he has changed his mind about draining the swamp, I think he just doesn’t want to draw too much attention to his plans as he approaches the angry gators
*******************************************************

I agree, this is his current strategy.

He knows he has to do two incongruent things:

1) Unify the USA
2) Pursue Equal Justice under the Law

By toning it down, he quiets (as much as one can quiet these commies) the opposition.

All the while, moving forward with the justice that our American free republic DEMANDS.

Noot is usually a double or triple agent.

The poor man is just spread too thin.

McPain, on the other hand, is always 100% on the other side.

I call BS on the headline and implication in this hit piece. I saw the interview. No way was he saying that Trump wasn’t going to keep his promise - just changing the description.

"You forgot to insert a graphic of Trump riding a donkey into town."

Well if you shave your ass and walk backwards, President Trump might hire you for the ride...How are things at ConservativeCircleJerk these days?

Dude, are you really this blind? Stop being emotional and start thinking instead of feeling.
Look who's talking.

Why is it every time some Republican makes an idiotic statement or action some dimwit comes along and claims it's all part of a brilliant scheme? And it NEVER is, it's always been just another idiotic move/statement..

I can't wait to see your excuse for Newt's brilliant plan behind his sitting, smiling like a Cheshire cat, with Pelosi on global warming...How did that plan work out for him?

Oh my God, Newt sat with Pelosi and did the PC thing about AGW. Ohhhhh the humanity. And I did not say this was Newt’s plan, this is what the Trump people have been doing since they started to run. You’re so blinded by wanting to hear a purist absolute message you cannot seem to separate the wheat from the chaff but that’s to be expected I guess, you’re still making judgements based on the now obsolete political paradigm. There is a new form of politics happening with the worlds greatest manipulator of the media, Trump. Trump is in charge and his people are very strategic so you need to realize the Republicans in the Administration, regardless of their name are not the same Republicans you’ve become so cynical about.

HuckFillery, I hope so too.

We are not going to get everything we want. That’s life.

Trump will do much to improve the situation.

NOBODY

That’s who is out there on the horizon to rescue us.

Trump has street savvy, and he’s a man with a purpose and goal. No, things weren’t perfect under Reagan, but it was at the very worst an eight year respite where the Left wasn’t marching full speed ahead.

We have to be thankful for what we can get.

I personally think the climate is right for Trump to set the clock back decades. How many? I don’t know. As you intimated, we’ll have to wait and see.

Look at what the guy talks about. He talks like a guy who has been posting here for twenty years.

Take your victories where you can find them. I appreciate that you want what is best. Heck, these days that’s something in and of itself.

Don’t let folks get you down. Trump is going to do some things you’re going to love.

See you in a year.

If Newt had said, Trump wants to tone down the rhetoric, your post would have gotten my backing.

What he said is that Trump no longer wants to drain the swamp.

That’s a totally different thing, and I don’t believe it for a moment.

"Drain the swamp", "Don't throw me into the briar patch" we've heard it all before

It's always been cute and it will always be "cute".

Of course, a thread referencing Gingrich wouldn’t have any value unless the Pelosi/Gingrich photo op wasn’t trotted out

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes. When I find myself too high on the Noot, as a rule of thumb, I trot this out to remind myself. Not concerned with his personal life, just climate change Newt.
