SEIU Urges President Obama To Keep Immigrant Families Together in National Push to Use Presidential Pardon

Dividing immigrant families is bad for our economy and communities, deportation could lead to increased exploitation of immigrant workers and drive down wages for all

Washington. DC- Today, in a letter featured in the New York Times, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) joined a coalition of immigrant rights, labor and community organizations calling on President Obama to protect immigrant families by using his power to pardon immigrants who have committed minor infractions.

“Immigrants do the work that our families need and that drives our economy like caring for our children, the sick and the elderly and securing and cleaning our offices, hospitals, and airports, but, since the election, millions of immigrant families have been living in fear of deportation forces targeting them in their workplaces and tearing their families apart,” said Rocio Saenz, Executive Vice President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). “By exercising the presidential pardon for immigrants who have committed minor infractions, President Obama can take action now to protect our economy and our communities from the divisive politics of Trump that threaten to profoundly impact all families

One third of all U.S. Presidents including Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Jimmy Carter, have used that power to pardon broad categories of persons. While the authority to pardon does not include the authority to legalize undocumented immigrants, it can be used to to protect adopted children of U.S. citizens, prevent legal immigrants who have committed minor infractions in the past from being deported for those minor infractions, prevent hardship to those who are currently barred from reuniting with their loved ones in U.S. because they reentered the U.S. without permission years ago .

Along with SEIU the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Immigration Law Center, the Center for Popular Democracy, National Day Labor Organizing Network, Make the Road New York, United We Dream, the Bronx Defenders, the Immigrant Defense Project, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the National Immigrant Justice Center, and the American Friends Service Committee have also signed on to the letter to President Obama.

I am okay with illegal “immigrant” families staying together. If the illegal parents want to take their anchor babies home with them, we should not stop them.

I agree, it makes no sense to deport only some illegals.

And I urge President Trump not to keep SEIU together.

SEIU is a thinly veiled Commie organization. I don’t pay any more attention to what they want than I would an ant crawling across the sidewalk.

By all means keep them together and send the entire family home. If the kids are US citizens they can come back when they are adults

There is actually no reason to split up families. Children should be deported along with their parents whether they are anchor babies or not. Then upon turning 21 years of age ... the so called anchor child can then be allowed to petition for entry into the United States. In the mean time the so called “Anchor Baby” rule should be repealed closing that loophole forever.

We are living in Mexico right now for extended business.

I find there are many families where the adult kids were born in the US but are with their parents in their hometowns, now working together in the family business, e.g., as gardeners, restaurateurs, etc. Lots of people have worked illegally in the US and are back in Mexico.

Yes, many admit they miss the US, but they are fine here. So nobody should grieve for them.

“deportation could lead to increased exploitation of immigrant workers”

Fine liberal logic there.

i was in a SEIU chapter when I worked for StopnShop supermarkets...what a scam these scumbags run . None of the officers are elected they appoint the union reps...not with a vote by the union body members....When I left a broad by the name of Deorio was given the presidency ...she was the former secretary of the former union President....what a moron she was....they would force bagboys and baggirls to pay union dues...the turnover was incredible for them and they got nothing out of the dues...I hated the Deorio lady(I use the term lady very loosely) I had a few go rounds with her and I reveled in getting her wound up! F the SEIU...they are communists from front to back.

The SEIU is the main register of illegal alien voters.

Over the last 10 years they have registered hundreds of thousands of illegals across the country.

They show up by the busloads in their purple tee shirts and go into neighborhoods where illegal alien Hispanics congregate, especially, but not exclusively, in sanctuary cities.

They have registered tens of thousands in Virginia, and are the primary reason that Virginia has gone from solid red to purple - even in this Trump year.

Fairfax County, a Washington suburb and the largest population in the state, is now overwhelmingly Democrat because of the concentration of illegal aliens allowed to settle here with Democrat support.

Republican legislators know of it but won’t fight it, fearful they will be labelled as racists.

If Trump doesn’t stop this, his victory will be a short interlude as the illegals get more and more powerful. Remember, Democrats only care about power. If America becomes Venezuela, they don’t care, as long as they are running it.

According to the govt of Mexico, illegals on US soil are, in fact, Mexican citizens.

==============================================

AFFIDAVIT BY THE GOVERNMENT OF MEXICO
IN A SWORN AFFIDAVIT TO A TEXAS COURT, MEXICO
SWORE THAT MEXICANS ON US SOIL ARE MEXICAN CITIZENS.

A sworn affidavit by Mexico/s Consul General to a Texas court asserts that Mexico/s official govt policy is to encourage its poor people to migrate here illegally in order to access our generous welfare system

The Mexican consul's sworn testimony asserts that: "My responsibilities in this position include protecting the rights and promoting the interests of my fellow Mexican nationals, and, that the main responsibility of consulates is to provide services, assistance, and protection to Mexican nationals abroad."

A footnote states that Mexican nationality is granted to children born abroad of a Mexican born parent. IOW, anchor babies born in the US retain parents Mexican nationality.

==========================================

Ergo, illegals have two governments looking after their interests.....our govt subsidizing them, and the Mexican govt making sure they collect.

Its time the US govt look after the interests of American citizens.

How long is it going to be before some lib filmmaker decides to adapt “The Diary of Anne Frank” for a modern retelling set in the US during the Trump administration with “Anna Franco” and her family facing deportation?
