Schumer: Feds Must Consider Recalls For Exploding E-Cigs; Enough Is Enough
U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today called on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take a hard look at issuing recalls on e-cigarette batteries and devices that have caught fire and exploded, injuring dozens of users.

We three kings of Orient are
Smoking on a rubber cigar:
It was loaded, it exploded....
Go get’m Chuck. Big Gulps and E-Cigs. Big bad Chuck Schumer. Tiny little leftist scum. Itsy Bitsy Chuck.
He has no problem with dope though .
Is he nuts? This is bull crap.
It’s total crap.
The only time e-cigs “explode” is when the contact is exposed and touching metal such as keys or change in your pocket.
Which isn’t a fault of the device. It’s a fault of the user for leaving the battery disconnected from the heating element and tank.
Chucky’s syphilis addled brain misfires on a near constant basis and he still gets re-elected. Why not recall him? He does more damage than an electronic cigarette.
E-cigs. Something Little Chuckie and his constituents can relate to.
Tell you what dude,,, just concentrate on that “important” stuff and let the grownups in the new administration show you how to run a country
Chicago
A tiny fraction of a machine causes minor injuries, and Chuck wants immediate action.
A much HIGHER percentage of Mooselimbs behead people, blow up cars, and attack places like schools, shopping centers and airports.... and anyone who suggests we limit their admission is called a xenophobe.
In the mean time, hundreds if not thousands die every day from mono-hydrogen dioxide. A chemical compound that can kill in just a few moments. Maybe we should look into banning this dangerous substance before more people are killed.
So, Chuck Schumer wants a federal agency to issue regulations that have the binding authority of LAW, which is the sole jurisdiction of Congress.
It's just like the left to bend the Constitution to get their way, isn't it?
They’re only bad until NY can tax them like cigarettes.
All the problems in the world and this clown goes after what?
Good grief.
I think the only solution would be a 150% tax on these exploding e-cigarettes that should fix the problem (sarc). The problem is with kids modifying the batteries trying to get a nicotine high and overheating them. I had tried patches, pills and gum to quit smoking and finally was able to quit with the help of an e-cigarette 3 years ago, I still keep one around but use it rarely. They saved my life without a doubt.
Exploding cigs not the biz of the fed govt.
why is this any concern of him?
While dozens of e-cigarettes have exploded in the past three years.........
Americas opioid epidemic now claims 33,000 lives a year. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released Thursday shows that opioids, including heroin and prescription painkillers, cause almost two-thirds of all drug- related overdoses in the United States. In the past year, heroin deaths went up 20 percent, and now exceed gun homicides. And since 2000, 300,000 Americans have died from an opioid overdose.
Just let them start taxing e-cigarettes like tobacco and then maybe they will STFU and focus on some serious issues.
