Dear Reader (and those of you with better things to do), There have been times in the past when Ive gotten crosswise with certain segments of the conservative base and/or with the readership of National Review. And, because, like the Elephant Man, I am a not an animal but a human being, I have always had at least some self-doubt. Thats as it should be.
People who share principles should not only hear each other out when they disagree; they should be able to see each others points and hold open the possibility that ones opponents have the better argument.
Maybe you just like him. On that, we can respectfully disagree, as there is no accounting for taste. Perhaps you just like his musk and the way it assaults your nostrils, which is fitting, given his line of cologne. Fine.
I ON THE OTHER HAND, FIND HIM TEDIOUS, TACKY, AND TRITE. HE'S A BORE WHO OVERCOMPENSATES FOR HIS INSECURITIES BY TALKING ABOUT HOW AWESOME HE IS, OFTEN IN THE THIRD PERSON. JONAH CAN'T STAND THAT. YOU SEE THE NEXT TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND ALL I SEE IS SOMEONE WHO TALKS BIG AND CARRIES A SMALL SCHTICK.

Hugh Hewitt has been supporting Trump.
I listen when I can because there are so few choices. Hewitt does okay.
I say we just ignore Jonah and his ilk. From now on, he’s Jonah Who? to me.
And there was a time when I admired this fellow’s writing.
I think what gets me, is all of them. George Will, Steve Hayes, Goldberg, Glenn Beck etc. They totally misread the guy’s following. I’m not a kook. I think the majority on this forum are like Jim Robinson. We are red blooded Americans. This election made me realize how utterly numb this @sshats are to what mainstream Americans are all about.
I listen to Trump, and he speaks for me. He says and does things I like, and when he doesn’t, it’s like I didn’t understand him, and then I do, and admit he was right again.
Jonah,
I didn’t read your article, but base this response on your headline.
Trump IS an intervention.
And here’s the best lines in the article by this egg head:
“But most grating of all are the people who sincerely think he should be the Republican nominee for president of the United States.
On this, Im afraid were going to have to disrespectfully disagree. First of all, HE’LL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
I wont go into all of the reasons I think this, but a few off the top of my head:
his enormous negatives, even among Republicans;
the Midass hoard of oppo-research material that surely lurks beneath the surface;
and his comments about women, which alone would turn the gender gap into a chasm.
To borrow a line from Mark Steyn, a President Trump would have more ex-wives than the previous 44 presidents combined.
Too bad Jonah turned out to be such a jealous sort!
Sorry the time for niceties is long past. I didn’t work my a$$ off in college and beyond without age class or union protections to support a tsunami of invading polyglot parasites and I didnt have a near miss on 9\11 to become enlightened about the benefits of importing a death cult. I voted dutifully for W McCain and Romney but when Julian Bond and other racial arsonists called GOPers the American Taliban, when La Raza BLM etc assaulted GOPers the politicians listed above plus 16 low energy candidates, the “conservative” press including Jonah, and Cruzbots like you were nowhere to be found in our defense.
Very well said! The lack of response to the hateful bigoted left and their race baiting and totalitarianism tactics from our so called representatives has been DEPLORABLE!
Depends how you count it. Most of the former presidents who cheated didn't bother to marry their mistresses. At least Trump married Marla. I'm glad he finally found someone who appears to love him deeply instead of just loving the public persona and glitz.
You really aren’t making any sense. I certainly voted for and supported Trump, if that is what you mean.
I am very pleased he is president compared to Hillary.
And I like his cabinet picks.
He does have some populist non-conservative statements. For example he apparently supports a new entitlement for you and me to pay women so they can sit around and not may taxes while you and I support them. I don’t support this liberal crap, and you should not either.
Time for us to make the best lemonade we can from the ingredients we have. It could have been all vinegar.
