The story fit the grim emerging genre of the opioid epidemic: addicted caregivers who imperil their young children, their very public failings instantly held up for excoriation on social media. Tamara and Jacob had abruptly been added to a national tableau, fused in the popular imagination with the Ohio couple slowly turning blue in their SUV while a 4-year-old watched from his carseat; the Milwaukee pair revived with Narcan in front of the womans 2-year-old son; the woman who overdosed in the toy aisle of a Lawrence dollar store, while her toddler wailed and pulled at her arm.
Much less visible are the lives behind the headlines, especially of those who are trying to help the broken get whole again, and to bring life and hope to the children.

Heroin is the worst thing in the world
Several generations ago, China wiped the drug trade off it’s map by simply killing anyone involved...growers, processors, sellers, users. Gone in an eye blink. Don’t hear much about the drug trade in China today.
If he is 2 years or more totally clean his odds are excellent for full and lasting recovery.
If you promise they can’t show up in the emergency room for tx.
The prescription drug trade has lots of evil to account for just like illegal drug trade.
And adderall, legal meth, that is prescribed for kids...the worst, a life wrecker.
It's not that there is no cost, it's that there is a profound question of whether I should care if they want to kill themselves.
Drug users can't face reality. Morally, I have a modest problem with taking them out into the parking lot and blowing their brains all over the f#cking pavement.
I cannot, however, understand the compulsion to use the government to stop them. Anyone wants to, sell them 1 lb of 100% pure heroin. Dump the body in the local landfill, for the crows and gulls. Write down and file their names, if it satisfies some OCD thing, but don't agonize over it.
Stop spending public money trying to stop it. Or, burn the billions in a BBQ grill. Same effectivness.
121 days is nothing. Time will tell. Hope she makes it. My opinion is meth addiction is a death sentence. I have seen recovery go bad too many times. If they don’t heal themselves from being addicted to drama, it won’t stick.
Ever seen a moderate heroin addict?
Deal.

Thank you, it has been two years. He is a great father again, has a good job, looks good and has a new lady in his life.
Damn right. Smack makes lethargic zombies out of people. Meth turns them in violent raving maniacs.

Report Documents Guerrero’s Role as Mexico’s Poppy Capital
Written by Michael Lohmuller

A recent report on poppy in Mexico’s Guerrero state highlights both the economic benefits and violent repercussions the plant’s cultivation — necessary for producing heroin — brings to local farming communities.
Citing an unnamed military official, Mexican newspaper Excelsior reported at least 1,287 communities in the state of Guerrero are economically dependent on poppy cultivation.
“It is the base of their economy. Criminal groups arrive in the communities and ask the locals to plant poppy or marijuana,” the military source said. “They offer to buy all the production and, as a guarantee, pay a cash advance. They also teach courses on how to cultivate and harvest the plant.”

Controlling our borders would help a lot.
It has something to do with the commander in chief and the CIA protecting the source of the supply.
Give heroin out freely. The problem will solve itself very quickly.
